DL Space Mt. question about drops

So I’m pretty sure I'm going to go on Space Mt. on my upcoming trip but I think I would feel a little bit better if I knew how big some of the drops are on the ride. Just from comparison (from grilling several CMs and even an attraction manager trying to get up enough nerve to go on it at WDW) I know the biggest drop on the ride at WDW is only about 22ft, so anyone know about at DL?

Disneyland's Space Mountain doesn't have any drops to speak of IMHO. It's pretty much all banked curves. I really don't think you have anything to worry about.

One slight drop but it is only a few feet. Really, it is just a fast turning coaster, nothing to fear here.

Splash Mountian's drop is bigger than anything on Space. That's one of my favorite rides. The fun part is that you can't see where the track goes.

I agree... I like that it's dark so you don't see anything coming.

Plus, if you scream the whole time it's more fun and doesn't give your body a chance to feel queasy (if you're the scared queasy type)!

I always panic on Splash Mountain!

I think I read somewhere that the drop is basically the same as the biggest one on Gadget's Go-Coaster (which is a childrens coaster.)

Space Mountain at Disneyland is a million times better than the one at WDW. It's smooth and has music. You'll love it.

here's the link to a youtube video of space mountain with the lights ON. as you'll notice, space mountain basically gets you to the top, then just brings you back down by spiraling around and around. i don't remember any drops that even made my stomach drop, and i've been on it lots of times. my kids have been riding it since they were 4, and even with the darkness, they think it is a lot of fun. you'll be fine! :)

That video is only a few seconds long. Here's a better one (albeit from WDW, instead of DL):

This does ease one's fears about drops; however, it makes me feel like I'm gonna hit my head on something. haha

DL Space Mountain has a minor drop, if you consider it that. 3/4 of the way through, you'll have a quick "stomach raising" experience, but it'll be over quickly. You'll spend most of the ride banking right hand turns (except at the beginning and end) at high speeds in the dark, so you won't even know it's coming.

Have a super time, the ride is quite a thrill. Smile for the camera :p

Oh, okay - disregard my video, then. Sorry. :confused3

I guess I shouldn't say "completely" different. But they aren't too similar either.

I do think WDW's version is much more painful though. Even more painful than the Matterhorn...haha.

I love Matterhorn but "painful" is a great description, if you're rather tall and have another rather tall and not-too-skinny relative squeeze in with you at the last minute. Don't think my knees have ever recovered from being squeezed and banged against the side of that bobsled. LOVE the ride, though! We always sing the Jamaican Bobsledding chant from "Cool Runnings" before we take off. :lmao:

thanks everyone! I think I will be fine since I don't mind WDWs version at all.
