What the heck is this!?!?!?!?!?

I just went to get the hours for an unexpected 3-day trip 1/31-2/2, and this showed up as a parade three times a day!

Somebody please tell me what this is? I feel like a newbie instead of an AP holder who was just there last month! LOL!!!!

Boy that is strange -- I haven't heard a THING about a new parade!

Let me check around and see if I can find anything out....

I worked backwards on park hours and shows, and the first day this is listed is January 17th. It is listed as a Parade and it is 3 times a day!

What on earth is this!?!?! I looked over at LaughingPlace, but couldnt' find any mention of it! I didn't post the question over there, though. I'd hate to have to call---all the really good information always comes from these boards!

I just checked the DL hours website and now they have NOTHING except park hours on there...no shows or parades at all. I think they may be updating some information and perhaps the Princess Pageant Parade was a mistake?

Okay, as of today it is now called the "Disney Princess Royal Fanfare" and is listed as a parade three times a day!

I can't believe nobody has heard of this thing! That's it---I'm calling!!!!

From the name of it, I'm guessing it's not so much a parade as a show, maybe in front of the castle. A chance for the Princesses to come out and do a little song and dance. It'll be interesting to see what it really is.

That's when we'll be there too, and I didn't see anything on our schedules!

DD is a BIG princess fan!

Princesses on Parade
Merchandise pushes for march, things are looking up for DCA’s Tower of Terror, and more

Move over, Pooh. Arguably the biggest merchandise money-makers at the Disneyland Resort are now the Princesses. Consequently, the head honchos in Merchandise have been brainstorming ways to leverage the living, breathing characters to sell more princess-related souvenirs.

The Entertainment Department was able to fight off the most controversial suggestion: that Snow White, Cinderella and the rest of the sovereign sorority wear lanyards and pin trade with the guests.

But it looks like their latest proposal, according to an eavesdropping Entertainment cast member, will happen. If the merchandise department gets its way, starting Friday, January 17, the Disney heroines will participate in a “Princess Procession” down Main Street and through Fantasyland.

“Their proposal has the Snow White, Cinderella, Belle and Aurora in a procession that starts from Main Street, goes down the parade route, and ends at the former viewing area for Light Magic,” he said. “The princesses will then do a ‘meet and greet’ there. The Le Petite Chalet, which is conveniently next to the viewing area, will sell ’princess souvies’ to the guests. At this time, we don’t know if the procession will be done two or four times a day.”

He admitted that while “much is still in the planning stages, one thing is for sure: it’s going to happen, much to the displeasure of a lot of cast members (when they find out and regardless of what department is involved). If this is done right, that would be a different story. But don’t hold your breath.”

Always the optimists at mouseplanet!

Whether this is to push merchandise or not it sounds like it could be cute and I'm sure many guests will enjoy it.

I heard this was an actual parade with floats and the Princesses would do a meet and greet at the end.

By the title, I expected it to be a mini-parade, with just the princesses, and maybe some footmen and a little walking music.

I think it's the Unofficial Guide to WDW that says [at Disney, everything starts with a line and ends with a cash register], so it wouldn't surprise me if this is a veiled sales tactic. Doesn't matter, though---we LOVE princesses!

I'll let you know what "official" answer I get.

disneyme---where'd you hear your information??

Saw it on 1/18 and 1/19. It's a very brief procession, maybe 4 or 5 minutes in total. It begins with 5 page boys with trumpets followed by two holding the banner. Next we saw Snow White riding side saddle on horseback. Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Belle followed in horse drawn carriages seperated by dancing couples. There is unfortunatly no floats, and I would not classify it as a show. It starts at Main Street and ends in Small World Plaza, where you can meet and greet the princesses. While there is Princess merchandise most everywhere in Disneyland, the only place the guide mentioned specifically was The Swiss Chalet in front of the Matterhorn. My 3 year DD loved it, and it is a welcomed variation. Just wished it was longer.:)

We saw this this past weekend, once on Sat 1/25 & again the next day. The music you hear is "Once Upon a Dream" from Sleeping Beauty and is lead by four herald trumpet players who play along with the taped music. Snow White is on a horse, and Cindy, Aurora and Belle each have their own flower-decorated horse drawn carriage. There are also dancers and banner carriers, two guys with a rope at the end just like every parade, and last but not least, the guy with the rolling trash can & shovel. One quartet of the dancers have baskets with crepe-paper rose petals that they drop in the street in front of Snow White's horse. Unfortunately these get tracked all over the park; we saw them everywhere, even in Tommorrowland near Space Mountain. Very cute and entertaining, esp. for little girls.
