August 28, 2007. Thinking of DL Paris (just 2 of us for once) and was wondering if anyone has any experience or ideas where to stay on points and whats included (few days on site, and few off?) and area sites/hotels to see as well? Or is better to not use points? Any information would be appreciated, thanks.

We have stayed at DLP on points. The nice thing is that continental breakfast and length of stay passes are included in the points price. We stayed at the Newport Bay Hotel, which was nice, but very LARGE. I would choose either the New York Hotel or Disneyland Hotel if we were to do it again. DLP is about 50 minutes outside of Paris on the train. I would spend a few nights in Paris, itself, as well, if you have the time!

Although DLP is very nice, you have got to go into Paris if you are in the area!! I could go on and on about what to see there plus areas just outside Paris!

We stayed in Paris and made the trip to DLP on the train (very easy trip). They were running a special that gave a discount after 6 pm when you purchased a train ticket. Since I've been to DL a bazillion times (numerous APs plus grew up just around the corner), I liked the little nuances of DLP. With that said, we managed to hit all the biggie rides, DH dislodge a kidney stone, walk around the park, and eat dinner in 5 hours (few crowds).

I haven't stayed on site, so I can't help you there.

Enjoy!

We had planned to stay at DLP on points in 1997, but because the point charts were not available when we made our plans, we didn't realize that the week we picked was going to cost us way more points that we had. In the end, we rented our points to friends and used the cash to purchase the Hunchback Package through American Express (which was an unbelievable deal at the time of our trip). We did stay onsite for two nights and had a most excellent time. After DLP, we opted to spend one additional night in the outskirts of Paris so that we could tour the city. We learned that one day does not give you enough time to even scratch the surface of Paris.

So my advice is to check with a travel agent to see if you can work a better deal with cash and save your points for DVC resorts.

We stayed there in January of 2003, enjoyed it very much. Stayed at the Disneyland Hotel. As stated the breakfast and passes are a plus. Easy train ride to Paris. Depending on your arrival time and method one of the busses might be a better way to get to DLP. I recall the weekends were rather busy. Check for local holidays and school schedules to avoid those busier times.

Will be there again in February of 2007. Planning another adventure.

I have stayed at Disneyland Paris on points. I have stayed at both New York and Disneyland Hotel and would advise not using points for these as they use up mega points. I was not keen on the New York hotel and thought would get a much better use of points to stay at Sequoia Lodge as about the same walking distance from parks as New York and less stuffier for much less points. I will go again on points but will stay at Sequoia Lodge. The train station can take you to centre of Paris. We collect Hard Rock Cafe glasses and manged to find the one in centre of paris by just getting on their metro.

Again points are better value for four guests, includes breakfasts and tickets to the park and also fastpass tickets for each guest for each day they are staying on site.

Spending money will go very quickly!

Have a great time and let us know what you decide to do.

Thanks for the advice Susan-thats just what we are looking for. Are you saying thet its the same number of points 4 in a room as 2? And that includes park passes and breakfast for each?

Yes same number of points for up to four people in a room. This includes breakfast and length of stay passes which include fasspass tickets. Disneyland Paris is very managable to walk about and is laid out very well. I would recommend staying on site. Disneyland Hotel is lovely but not very good use of points.

Hope you have a great time.
