DL or WDW in August? Crowds? Heat?

We are planning to go to either Disneyland or WDW in mid August. After factoring in all the variables, the DL trip would only be $500 more.

Since the costs are so close, I'd like to compare crowd levels and heat. How hot is DL in mid August? As bad as Orlando? How about the crowds?

I have been to both in August, and Disneyland was much more comfortable and cooler. And no daily rain in the afternoon!

This area of CA is not humid - I know there's parts that can get that way but I've never experienced it personally in SoCal. It might get warm but nothing good hydration & a hand held fan can't help!!

Also....I wonder how many kids will be back in school by then, the crowds might be lighter? Maybe??

I honestly thought some days in October were too hot and icky in FL. I think weather wise though it will be hot, but So Cal is way more comfortable in August. And way less bugs!!!!!!!

WDW will be a LOT more humid, which is what makes heat heavy and suffocating. Plus as mentioned previously, Florida is known for afternoon rains. I lived there for 4 years and came to count on the summertime afternoon rush-hour thunderstorm. But they usually come and go pretty quickly and the clouds keep the sun from being a big ol' rotisserie lamp.

If you are used to heat and humidity, then choose what is more interesting to you. I love both WDW and DL, and both will be equally exciting, fabulous and very crowded in August. I did WDW in the summer and there's enough air conditioned dark rides, water rides and shady spots to keep it from being overly miserable.

I printed out and saved one of your threads a few months ago about DL...the one where you said it would be hard to arrive at opening if driving and how you dropped your son off at the door before parking.
