DL Newbie* Good Resort/Hotel Location for DL Half Weekend

First and foremost, never been to DL...I did read the awesome thread for WDW Vets....great info!!! Thanks!
Not sure if I will be able to get into VGC at 7 mths... Esp in a studio...PP and DL Hotel rates seem really pricey unless they send me a pin code for visiting the site and ordering a DVD...I am learning about the Good Neighbor Hotels...
Anyone have any exerience for this weekend and where they prefer to stay?

Any comments are appreciated!

The HoJo Anaheim (Howard Johnson's) has great discounts and even offered a 25% one for the participants in the Tink 1/2. (Check that thread) They have an Entertainment Rate that has a fabulous discount too! You'll want to check with their internal reservations desk.

The HoJo is a great property and is just as far of a walk into the park as the Disneyland Hotel is - just the opposite direction!

See my note to you on the other thread - I think you might actually be okay getting a studio. It's the 1 and 2 bedrooms that go fast. I've had extraordinary luck over the years. If not, you can always use points at the DLH or PPH. Both are great properties and the DLH is much easier access to the race areas.

I saw your other post too, thanks so much, you are giving me hope I didnt have! My call date is 1/31...so I will have some sort of idea soon!!! I really would love to stay there!!!

In the meantime I have been researching PPh and DLH....I read the Expo is located at DLH as well.

Good luck with TINK! Its fun doing the Inagaurals! I have a friend racing in it...cant wait to hear feedback when its all over...is it the same course or how does it vary from the DL Half? I remember trying to figure out all the clues on FB for that big announcement last year, then I got an email, and if you go to the bottom of it and read the small print, it said where it generated from! lol
DUH! Then I knew where the race was going to be!

I've done the DL half the last two years and stayed at the HoJo. We stayed in a premium room for about 108 or so a night. They have a special rate for anyone running the race so just tell them you want that rate for the race.

Something special with the DL the last two years that Tink doesn't do is running in Anaheim stadium. For my husband and I that was one of the cool parts. I received a book at this year's expo that has both races on a map to compare the two. It was nice to see the difference. To me, it looked like maybe with the Tink you don't run as long in the parks as the DL? But I'm not quite sure since I didn't study it too hard.

I really wanted to run the Tink this year. Love the medal. But with DL in Sept and we went back for Christmas, we couldn't afford me doing Tink in January!

Good luck. It's so much fun. Oh, I als ran the 5K on Saturday and I loved it since it was all ran in the parks. Sooo much fun.

I am too much of a wimp to do the 5 K then get up early again for Half....lol...I know, you want to do all the races right! I saw those C2C medals during the W & D Half...wow...Labor day is a good weekend for me to escape the family too...my DH grew up going to DL, oh the pictures....LOL
My first race was the W & D in 2010, i recall thinking, get me out of Studios, when will this end?! LOL I knew the last stretch of the race and exactly where the finish line was, but as soon as it was over...I signed up for another!

I will need info..have read some great threads from people...I like knowing great spot to eat, nice bar etc...pool areas...

My daughter will be a senior so I feel I need to be home for the start of her senior year since I've been missing my kids' first days of school to do the run. Bad mom right here. LOL

I told my husband, if possible, I would just do the DL half every year and cut out all my other races. I'm addicted to doing the DL run.

My son is a senior and I missed his last 2 homecomings for the W & D Half...he said it was never a big deal..but...so no bad mom!!! We are there for our kids every other day of the year....we need something for us!
Thats how I feel...I give to my kids and family all year, if I steal away a few long weekends out of the year to accomplish a positve healthy goal.....bye bye guilt!
