I'm planning our family's first trip to DL and decided to start here! We love WDW and I've spent hours researching for our trips to the World. Now the fun begins anew! My last trip to DL was in 1978, I'm guessing things have changed a bit...

We are thinking of a four night stay at the Grand Californian Hotel. Is that enough time? Too much time?

Do I make my lunch/dinner ressies months in advance? Any must do character meals or experiences?

Finally, are there any recommended guide books?

Thanks in advance for all of your help! :goodvibes

Hey there & welcome!

Be sure to read Hydroguys tips...they really do help! GCH will be fun & 4 days is definately enough in my opinion!

Books...I have no clue but I know someone here can recommend one! I tend to gather all the info here...& then I forget! So, I find myself here everytime we even entertain the idea of coming. If I don't make a word doc.....it's gone from the ol' noggin'!

Four days should be enough time...

I have one pointer...

IF you want to eat at the Blue Bayou and watch the POTC boats go past...

do it at lunch...make an 1130am reservation and you will be put on the water.

We have done this for our 5 trips....

Here is our character meal photo/information thread, which may help you decide which one you would enjoy:

Keep in mind that what was the Lilo and Stitch Aloha Breakfast at the PPH is now called something like Surf's Up with Mickey and Friends, and is the only character meal with Mickey in DLR. It is brand new as of a couple of weeks ago. My longtime favorite of the character meals is Goofy's Kitchen because of the variety and quality of food, but I am interested in trying the Mickey meal. Also. Minnie & Friends is very popular among the DIS-ers here.

Thanks for the tip! And just when I was wondering where to find HydroGuy, he shows up!

This is a good place to start: :)

Look forward to reading this thread...just had breakfast with Lilo and Stitch last February at Ohana, so I think we'll try Goofy's kitchen! The menu looks awesome! :cloud9:
