We are getting 2 day 1 park tickets for a short visit in October. We will be in the parks Fri & Sat, 10/12-13. If I have read it right, it looks like DL will have EMH on Saturday and the Halloween party will be on Friday. DCA has EMH Friday. Is that right? So, with limited time and kids ages 5 mo, 5, 7, 10 which park would you do which day? I think the kids would enjoy Fantasmic so that's a plus for Saturday at DL and of course longer hours. But I am worried about the Fantasyland crowds that will already have built before regular opening at DL and the EMH crowds in Carsland at DCA Friday. Neither scenario sounds great unfortunately. WWYD? Any ideas for a plan of attack to make the most of the 2 days?

Since you do not have park hoppers, you would have to go to DL on Saturday if you want to catch F!.
Personally, I would do DCA on Friday and DL on Saturday anyway. The HP will give you limited hours if you choose to spend Friday at DL, plus crowds will get busy when the HP attendees are allowed access. You can hit up FL after EMH...you will have lines for Peter Pan and Dumbo, but the rest should be managable.
At DCA, get RSR FP's first (or designate someone from your party to get them) and ride the other CL rides first.

Thanks, Girimama. Jade, we don't have tickets to the party. How long will lines be for Peter Pan at regular opening on an EMH day? I know the kids will want to do that. Also, do you need a fast pass for Star Tours to avoid a long line?

if its am one the first things you want to do is that ride and it wont be more then 20min line

It could be 20 minutes or so. Best to ride it early because it will get worse as the day goes on.
You can FP Star Tours. If the standby line is short (already in the terminal), get in it and grad a FP for later in the day.
