What are the parks like during those 2 months.

Are there a lot of reburbishments going on? (I'm envisioning Pirates, Indy, Big Thunder and Space all down at the same time. :rotfl: )

I was thinking of planning another trip next September, but I really want to go during a time when the original Haunted Mansion is up and running.

I don't mind the rain...I live with it most of the year in the Seattle area anyway. But I would love to go to DL when it's very uncrowded. I wouldn't mind missing the Fireworks or parades either for this one trip.

So is January or February good...or perhaps May?

Hi! Also live in Auburn! Look for the DL liscence plates - dirty white minivan. We were also thinking of going in Jan, but HM will be down to remove xmas overlay. We went in Feb once for mid-winter break. It was still busy then - lots of Seattle folk - I could tell by the M's shirts. The weather will likely be wet, just like home, but that keeps the lines down. We just put on our slickers and enjoy. The IASM will be closed Jan through Oct for an extended refurb - don't know if you care about that. They say end of Jan so you could catch it early I guess, but that would mean leaving xmas overlay on. We went May last year - the weather was amazing (actually too hot for a couple days 98*) and crowds were a dream. Went on Space Mountain so many times I can't count. Peter Pan was still over 30min but I don't think that line ever goes down. If you plan it right you can go on the Food and Wine weekends which was extra yummy! Special treats at CA.

I like this site for attendance info -

Maybe we'll see you there!

February is an awesome time to go - aside from the presidents day holiday weekends. If you can avoid those, then you are golden. I am local and we LOVE February because the park is empty during the week. There is no Fantasmic or fireworks during the week to draw people to the park. Rain is rare around here lately, last year I think it rained two days the whole year, we were somehing like 16" behind at the end of July. The weather is usually nice and cool, but not really cold, though it does get chilly at night. When the parks closes at 8pm anyways that's not a big issue. We actually had a mini heat wave in Feb/Mar last year which was bizarre.

May is good too, but has a few more people people than February usually because Colleges are getting out by then and a lot of local schools take an end of year trip to DL as a class. May also runs the risk of a heat wave, it can get very hot in Anaheim, sometimes even over 100.

Our weather is so unpredictable, it can change drastically from Monday to Friday. I would plan for anything if you come in Feb so you are prepared. But my choice, having been here and visiting during both months for several years, would be Feb.
