Is this a good or bad time? What is weather like? Our DS's birthday is Feb.5th. We thought it would be a funt time to take him. Or should we wait until later in the year?

Would this be your first trip to DLR?

Feb will be great for lower crowds and smaller lines but more likely to be bad for weather and rain. And bad for entertainment. It is all a tradeoff.

Here is some reading material that may help:

Im going to tell you what I tell everyone...there is no way to compare what the weather will be like in CA...you can do past history till your blue in the face but bottom line is that it changes every single year...I like to go in Feb. because if you compare it to say spring break or summer yes it is smaller crowds...it can rain yes but this past feb. it was hot...I didnt bring shorts and I should have...I was dying but when the sun went down it got cold...the year before that it was very cool and rained the day I left to go home so it worked out well for me...the only thing you can do is start checking 10 days out on weather.com and whatever the temp is for anaheim add 5 degrees and thats closer to what the actual temp will be...and you basically have to pack for anything...I always pack a shirt, pants and shorts to match each outfit I take...CA weather is crazy and will never be the same from year to year...who knows, next feb we may have snow:confused3 :rotfl:

When visiting in the non-summer months, plan for hot and cold weather. In February I was fine with pants and a t-shirt during the day, but I needed sunscreen since the sun was shining enough during the day, but yes a jacked was a good thing to have, even if I didn't need it all the time.

when we went in feb, we got rained on pretty bad. most of the time it was light rain, but there were also times of heavy rain and no rain at all. we were there for 3 days and it rained every day. the only bad thing about feb was that there was no fireworks or other shows like that due to the weather:(, but other than that, even when it rains you still have a great time. just get panchos! we will be there again in feb for my sons 2nd bday, so im hoping the weather is a little better this time around!

IMHO, I would have to say that anytime is a good time to go to Disneyland! You don't say how old your son is but I am guessing he is young enough that he wouldn't miss anything if there were no fireworks or even a ride closed for refurb. Even if that sgould happen, there is still plenty to do! And even if it rains in the park you can still have a great time. If he really wants to go for his birthday then I would probably go ahead and take a chance!

I am planning a family trip to DL in Feb/09 around the same time as you are. I don't have a problem with it potientally raining on the days we are there, as long as we have the proper rain gear. I know if it rains or not, we are going to have a great time in Disneyland. Have a greyt time planning your trip!!

Ive been in february a few times on vacation. I come from vancouver, and while its not the arctic north, its pretty much a constant 45 - 50 in early months of the year. LA at that time is much warmer comparatively and I usually wore shorts and a t shirt during the day and was fine. It did rain some trips a bit, but never seriously, drizzle and this odd fine misting rain we'd never get here (it only pours).

I really like it in february but the thing that I dont like is the reduced hours and the fantasmic / firework schedule. If you wnat to see either you have to be there on a weekend and if it gets cancelled due to weather, you're left without much recourse. Try and schedule to see it the earliest possible then if its canelled you can try again the next night.
