We have always gone to DL in the spring, but this year I would like to go when I can see the Christmas decorations. I have a couple of questions I hope someone can answer:

Planned week December 3rd - Dec.10th or Dec.7th - Dec. 14th

1) Will the Haunted Mansion be decorated with Jack Skellington?
2) Will It's a Small World be decorated?
3) Will there be any special Christmas parties?
4) Will there be a Candlelight Processional?
5) What will the weather be like?

I appreciate any help,

Let’s see if I can help you! :)

1) I’m not real sure if there is going to be a NBC overlay this year due to the Haunted Mansion 40th anniversary. There was a thread here earlier on this topic, I’m not sure if it’s been released if there will be an overlay this year.

2) Yes! It will be decorated with the Holiday overlay.

3) Disneyland doesn’t have any Holiday parties like WDW does.

4) Yep! There is a Candlelight Processional every year in the first weekend of December.

5) It’s kind of cold. Well cold for Southern California weather. You would be fine at nights with jeans and a medium sized jacket.

Maybe someone else has some more info for you!

We were actually there the first weekend in December just this last year. The weather was great, 70's during the day and sweatshirt/jeans weather at night.

The Haunted Mansion Holiday is up by Thanksgiving weekend and runs through the first weekend in January. As others have stated, not sure if it's going to be there this year due to the 40th anniversary, but honestly I can't see why they wouldn't do it.

IASW will have it's holiday overlay as well. There' s a light show that hapens a couple times a night.

Snow on mainstreet, out by IASW and NOS happens twice a night if I remember correctly.

The Candle light prosession happens twice an evening both Saturday and Sunday that first weekend. People start lining up and getting seated at 8am. No joke. It was too crowded for us to enjoy it very much since we didn't want to waste a day sitting in chairs for a good seat.

There are also other things like NOS decorations are amazing and even Storybook land has small christmas trees and lights.

We visited DLR this past Dec. our dates were 12/8-12/11, the CM C~mas parties were our 1st two nights so DL closed @ 6pm, but DCA stayed open till 9pm those 2 nights. I thought the weather was great, I'd rather be slightly chilled than hot. Fireworks were each night ~ on CM party nites they showed them @ 5:45pm.

Planned week December 3rd - Dec.10th or Dec.7th - Dec. 14th Your dates are close to ours, we are going to be there for DD9s 10th bday on the 15th

1) Will the Haunted Mansion be decorated with Jack Skellington? Should be but we don't know for sure, I hope so because we love the NBC overlay.
2) Will It's a Small World be decorated? It will be!
3) Will there be any special Christmas parties? Not unless they start something new this year, DL doesn't do holiday parties like WDW does
4) Will there be a Candlelight Processional?Sometime that month there will be but we won't know when until closer to the dates
5) What will the weather be like?Well I wear jeans, long sleeves shirts, a sweatshirt and have a coat with me but apparently I'm what's considered a cold weather wimp. LOL Even tho I grew up in the snow I still want to be warm while at DL/DCA. :)

1) Will the Haunted Mansion be decorated with Jack Skellington? More than likely, yes.
2) Will It's a Small World be decorated? Absolutely - and it is gorgeous!
3) Will there be any special Christmas parties? Most likely, no.
4) Will there be a Candlelight Processional? See notes above.
5) What will the weather be like? Anything from 75 and sunny to 55 and pouring down rain!

We went this past December for the very first time this past December and I can highly recommend a trip in December. Our dates were December 11 - 16. Some days it was sunny and warm, but two of our days were VERY RAINY...but nevertheless it was a fantastic trip.

The decorations will blow your mind. Nothing puts you in the Christmas spirit like Disneyland.

Thanks everyone for your replies. We normally go to WDW for the first 2 weeks of December every year and DL in the spring. I want to turn it around this year but I am hesitant to let go of my WDW time, I love it there at Christmas.

Hmmmm - what to do?

Do it! It will be nice to have every holiday thing available to you without having to pay extra. Unless you want to get a CP package, that is...but otherwise just pack yourself in there way ahead of time and you can experience the CP, if it's going when you're there.

We were there from the 6th through the 8th in December...the CP was (as is traditional) the first full weekend of December (sat and sun), and the cast parties were Mon and Tues after the CP. At least I believe those were the days of the cast parties! We finished up our time at DCA anyway, so weren't impacted by DL closing...so i'm not totally sure.

I've only been in the summer, but did one December trip 3 years ago. It was the BEST disney trip I have ever been on!!! :thumbsup2

The weather was fabulous (60s and 70s and sunny during the day, and 50s/60s at night), the decorations were beautiful (although a little disappointing if you have seen the WDW decorations), and the crowds were very, very low.

Have a great time! I'm jealous! :goodvibes

We're thinking about changing our days to 12/9-12/11 now because of the CP and the CM parties. Does that sound horrible to not want to be there during the CP? And with only 3 days I'd hate for the park to close early 2 of those 3 days.

It's not horrible to change your dates. If those things are not important to you then by all means change them. :) We would because the CP isn't a big deal for us. :)

So, just so I have it clear. If there is a CP and I would like to see it, are these dates going to do it for me, if things remain the same as previous years. Arrive Monday Dec. 7th 2009 and be there through to and including Sunday Dec. 13th. I have myself convinced that I do want to come in December, I just don't want to miss anything.

Except for the set-up, the CP didn't mess with our trip at all. We just made sure to not be in the main street area after a certain time. We adore DCA so it wasn't a hardship for us at all! Too busy doing Grizzly 10 times in 2 days. :)

Can you believe I still have not been on GRR? This time...I must!!! Does your son ride it? Does he like it?

That would be neat but I don't think we are going that early in Dec. More likely it will be a long weekend for us. On another note, what do you think about the budget cuts our school district has to make? :scared1:

You know none of it surprises me. I don't like it but I hope that it turns around.

It makes me sad.....all these great programs that will go away now. :(
