When do the special XMAS things start? We were thinking of a trip right before Thanksgiving, with our last park day being the day before Thanksgiving. Would any of the XMAS extras be going yet? I'd be mostly interested in the decorations and the makeovers of HM and IASW. If we'd miss all of the XMAS stuff by going at this time, I guess I'd need to consider rescheduling because I really want to see Disneyland at XMAS!

It starts EARLY, typically...WAY before Thanksgiving even. If you're here by mid-November you should be able to see all the decorations and festivities. :)

So when we go around Dec 1 we should expect the Haunted Mansion and Its a Small World to be all set up for x-mas??? And what info can give regarding DL's version of the candlelight processional???

Yes, most definitely everything will be up by Dec. 1. I'm not sure if they will do the Nightmare Before Christmas with the HM again this year, but it was hugely popular last year so my guess is they will.

The Disneyland version of CP is different from the Epcot one, and is typically run on only ONE weekend during the entire holiday season. They typically don't release any info until about a month in advance, and they handle the ticket distribution differently each year. It's free, but you need a ticket. You can check back in November for details. :)

Thanks for the info Michelle!!! I wasnt aware it was only done one weekend, i thought it would be held more often. ive heard good things about it and was hoping to attend!!

Thanks Michelle!! Sounds very exciting. I forgot about Nightmare Before Christmas at HM, my family would love that. Now to decide where to go for X-mas.

My family is going to be there the first week of December.....I'm hanging in there with you hoping to hit the CP just right :)

<font color=navy>The Candlelight Processional is held the 2nd weekend in December. If you'd like, you can read about our experience, w/pictures, going to it last year.

Our Weekend @ the DLR 12/8-9/2001

BobBrazeal & I were @ DL the first weekend in November of 2001, and the resort was already decorated for Christmas. However, w/the weather in the high 80's, I couldn't get into the snow coming down after the fireworks. The HM and IASW were already decorated & ready to go, and the huge tree was already up @ Town Square. The other tourists, though, had a wonderful time, and were oohing and aahing the snow as it came down.

For the Candlelight Processional, I was in line @ 5:30 in the morning on Saturday, and there was already a crowd there - the first person had got there @ 3am. This event is mainly for the performers & VIPs, and if there are tickets left over they are handed out to the guests who are in line. They didn't start handing out the tickets until 8am, and by 8:20 they were all out of them. Each person was allowed to get four tickets... that is, each person standing in line... so, if there was a family of four, techically, they could get 16 tickets, even the kids counted for this, so you can't really gauge if there'll be tickets by the time you get up to the window.

If DL does the same thing this year, the CP will be held the weekend of 12/14-15.

I'm SOOOO glad to hear that the Christmas decorations are in full swing by Thanksgiving. We are also headed west to see relatives...and of course MUST go to DL while we are there! Nightmare Before Christmas is one thing I most definitely want to see! :D

If everything follows last years plan:

Haunted Mansion Makeover - early October

Small World Makeover - early November

Luminara - early November (rumor for this year is Thanksgiving - Christmas)

Christmas Fantasy Parade - Thanksgiving Day

Minnie's Christmas Party show - early November

Believe...In Holiday Magic - early November

All ends weekend after New Year's

You don't need a special ticket for all the festivities - which is cool. MVMCP is very cool too - they only show the Christmas Party during the parties and just a few days before Christmas - New Year's
