We went to Disneyland on Mother's Day. We had a reservation for 3 adults and one child; I booked a regular room thru Expedia...the rate was better than my AP rate. When we arrived at the DL Hotel there were no lines at the registration desk. It was around 4:30 pm. We were tired, we had been at CA all day. We went to our room and found the soap was used, the room had someone's receipts from Ralphs grocery store crumpled up on the bed; the were things on the floor; the sliding glass door was completely open. I called the front desk and was told we would be put into another room; our room was supposed to be "checked" before we checked in; apparently it wasn't. We were told to go to another room; we went there and waited for the keys to come. As we stood there we realized there was someone in the room. We could see their shadows under the door and could hear them in the room. I intercepted the young man bringing us the keys to the "new room". i told him there were people in it...he was so embarrassed. He confirmed our suspicions. He called the front desk. He was told to take us to another room one floor down and wait for the keys. He did. He left us in the room. It was clean; there was no one in the room but us. BINGO. Our ordeal was over. NO it wasn't. Within five minutes the guy in the room next to us was screaming profanities at the top of his lungs. He was threatening to do terrible things in the room. I couldn't believe it. I felt like crying. I called the front desk again. They knew about our neighbor...they were on the phone with him. I was told by the person on the phone that they would call us back in a few minutes. The young man did call back. He told us to go and wait for him in the lobby. We did. He came and apologized about all of the problems we had been experiencing just trying to check in. He took us to a very large suite on the second floor of the Bonita Tower. It was the AMBASSADOR SUITE. Complete with living room, dining room, bar, three bathrooms. Unbelievable. Totally unbelievable. We stayed in the room for two days & nights. We were even given access to the concierge services. We watched the fireworks from the 11th floor of the tower facing the Downtown Disney area on Sunday night. It was wonderful. We had continental breakfast and afternoon snacks. As far as I'm concerned the DL Hotel staff went way out of their way to make us as comfortable as possible. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Hooray! Good for you! And good for DLH! :thumbsup2
Talk about compensation...
When we were there back in December, our toilet broke. No--it didn't get plugged. The tank itself broke and gushed water for 5 hours (while we were at the parks) soaking everything in the bathroom. We had to wait an hour while maintenance switched out the tank and cleaned up (only reason I wasn't freaking out was the water was CLEAN water from the tank).
Anyway, the DLH comped us $75, which I thought was quite generous. I mean--it was a freak occurance. Not really DLH's fault.
But your experience--pixie dust all the way!
Aside from this, didn't you just love the DLH? I thought the location was perfect! :sunny:

If that toliet was gushing water for 5 hours, wasn't the room trashed also? Were any of your things damaged like suitcases? 5 hours of gushing water would most likely have leaked into the hallway as well!

Well, there was about an inch or more of standing water in the bathroom, and some water seaping out into the carpeting. But there's a lip on the bathroom doorway that kept most of the water inside the bathroom. And since the floor is tiled, I'm guessing it didn't go downstairs, but don't know for sure. :confused3
But the other fun part is when maintenance had the shop vac going to suck up the water, the shop vac sprung a leak which sent water in the carpeted area by the closet.
Again, because it was clean water, I was fairly calm about the whole thing. :sunny: And maintenance was so apologetic (especially 'cause it was around 11 at night and DS had crashed out on the bed. They originally wanted to move us to another room---hmm, looking at OP now I wish I had taken it!--but with DS asleep already, we didn't feel like moving.)
I'd go back to DLH in a heartbeat--I loved everything (toilets excluded) about it! :sunny:

Thats whats nice about staying on Disney property. Bad things happen like they do anywhere but my experience has always been that Disney (whether its WDW or DL onsite hotels) will go to a higher level to make it right. Glad this all turned out okay, sounds like all things considered your bad luck might have been a stroke of good luck!

Awesome! Sounds like some sort of presidential suite. I'd have been like, "oh, and we need to extend our stay..." hahahaha

awesome story!

Yes, please post photos of your DLH room, it sounds incredible! So glad things worked out well for you. (And I wonder what happened to the guy screaming profanities - Yikes, sounds scary!)

:thumbsup2 I love it! On another site I visit people are always harping on Disney Hotels staff!! Ha! I have alays found the service fantastic! Something similar happened to my family last year...we arrived the day after the last Grad Night. Anyhow the hotel more then made up for it, we were compted Mickey Hats withe free embrodery, as well as Goofys Breakfast!
