DL honeymoon and 1st timers!

Hi friends! We have never been to Disneyland but are planning 4-5 days in mid April for our honeymoon and will be staying at the Disneyland Hotel! We are WDW veterans and even got engaged on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom! Admittedly, we are super planners: watching ride through videos on YouTube, pouring over food reviews and photos, planning our dining and FPs months in advance.. but here’s the thing. After this wedding, I’m tired of planning! And we want an element of surprise! We know next to nothing about Disneyland. With 4-5 days, we are hoping to ride most of the attractions but I’m looking for suggestions on shows, experiences, dining, menu choices, and anything romantic and chill that DL veterans would suggest! For instance, for WDW i would say get a Dole Whip and find a good people watching spot or have a steak at the California Grill at fireworks time! I want to just put my full faith in the disboards to guide our trip and book whatever y’all suggest!

For a "adult" chill place Napa Rose can't be beat which is inside the Grand Californian Hotel. Either a regular reservation or one of my favorite little known hidden gems is the Napa Rose Lounge in the front half of the restaurant. It is drop in first come first serve and big ol comfortable chairs...some by the fireplace...and you can relax, order drinks and dessert and appetizers. No reservations required and have yet to never be seated even during stupid busy days. They serve the full menu but it is our go to for drinks and dessert after a long day.

First off, CONGRATULATIONS!

Biggest difference between DL and WDW is one you are certain to love after planning a wedding--DL doesn't require nearly the advanced planning that WDW does!

There's a sticky thread on here about DL for WDW veterans, and its a great starting place.

Hubby and I had a DL honeymoon several years ago and it was wonderful! We did Carthay Circle one day for reserved WoC seating. We did drinks and dessert at Hearthstone in GCH. I'd recommend MaxPass; it comes with PhotoPass, which will allow lots of couples pictures. (Hubs generally hates getting pictures taken, so it was awesome to get lots of pictures of just he and I, and especially at DL!)

Congratulations!! I also had a Disney proposal (Disneyland) and I know how special they are.

Shows: Fantasmic (DL) and World of Color (DCA). You can do dining packages for both of then. World of Color also offers a dessert party package.

Restaurants: Blue Bayou has lovely ambiance and good food, ask for a waterside table. I've never been, but i've heard good things about Steakhouse 55. Both of these are sit down restaurants. For quick service I love the French Market for dinner. For lunch we like to get the fried chicken plate from Plaza Inn and split it. It's a nice "light" lunch. I also love the soft serve cones in DCA. You can get them on the pier or from the cozy cones. If you go to the cozy cones you can get them chocolate dipped.

I always love people watching, finding a nice bench or table and just relaxing. If you want to relax around less people, check out the GCH. They have some nice outdoor couches that are great.

Being that it's your honeymoon definitely make a reservation at Napa rose!

I also highly recommend the world of color dining package at Carthay circle - this is a must do for us.

We are disneyworld vets and just did two days at Disneyland. I am planner too. The only real plans I made ahead of time was to book a dinner and World of color package. That way you get a fast pass/prime seating for world of color.

I made a list of yummy foods we wanted to try. For example peanut butter chocolate graham cracker.

I noted any rides we don’t have at
Disneyworld and made sure we rode them.

And I paid the extra money for max pass. It was worth it. We got to ride all of the big rides with no wait. And the photopass pictures are included. But there are t nearly as many photopass photographers as there are at disneyworld.
