The wife and I will be at DL the very 1st week of October. We'll probably be going to DL and DCA on October 2nd and 4th to avoid the weekend crowds. (2 day park hopper passes) I've heard they change the Haunted Mansion for Halloween, is there any chance the Mansion will be shut down during my visit for the Nightmere before X-mas updates? I'd LOVE to see the Mansion done over but I'd take it traditional over being shut for renovation! Anyone have any idea?

For the record this is purely a guess but I thought that I had heard/read that it was down during September for the makeover...

IIRC, it re-opens with the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay on September 14. You should have no problem getting to see it!

As the PPs have said, barring technical difficulties, the HM will have re-opened with the Halloween overlay by that point. DLR has their Mickey's Halloween Parties going by that point, so Halloween should be in full swing (including Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy).

Just a note, there is a Halloween party scheduled for the 2nd, so DLR will "close" to non-party goers at 6 pm.

One other cool thing is that for Halloween, Haunted Mansion Holiday(HMH) becomes a Fastpass attraction! The lines are much longer during the holiday overlay, in my experience, so being able to grab a FP and see it later with a shorter wait is awesome! Since you only have two days, you might want to incorporate that into your touring plan. It's a great time of year to go though, most attractions have waits under 30 minutes, though of course the headliners stay relatively busy.

That is right, the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay is for both Halloween and Christmas. It will open on September 14th and stay in that state until it closes on Janurary 7th to remove that overlay.

Thank you everyone for the feedback and thank you for this Halloween party on the 2nd information as well. Guess we won't go to DL on the 2nd because I'd be very bummed if I had to leave the park at 6 on one of the only two days we have slated for DL.

Wait. You said in your OP that you had park hoppers. You should be hopping several times a day, every day. They're only steps from each other. By all means, go to DL on the 2nd, at least sometime during the day. If you're there at 6 when it closes, hop to DCA.

It's the DLR way! ::yes::

Thanks for the advice Bob, that's is an option since we will be getting hopper passes. We're not sted fast on going the 2nd though, we can do the 1st or 3rd but I appreciate your suggestion. And we do plan to park hop. My idea with park hopper passes is I don't have to decide which day to do DL. Do we start our Disney time at DL and End with DCA or the Vise-versa? With park hopper passes we can start with DL and END with DL! :cool1:pixiedust: Personally I'd like "4 day" passes but my wife has never been to California and we're only there for 7 days, and two of those days will be spent traveling. And since we've been to WDW about 9 times and are probably going back to WDW on Feb. of 2013 I'm lucky to get 2 Disney days out of her!

Looks like we may actually be going with the City pass option that would give us 3 park hopper Disney days as well as Universal Studios one day and Sea world one day. I'll let the forum know if we actually go that way. I left it in the wife's hands and she really didn't intend this to be a full out theme park vacation but the City pass is such a good value I think SHE'S going to decide to go that way. 3 Days at both Disney parks, Universal and Seaworld would be heaven as far as I'm concerned. I'm a major theme park junkie with anything Disney at the top of my list. :woohoo:
