Today I recieved at DL gift card and am wondering if I can use it to pay for any of the Character breakfasts? Anyone know? Thanks.

You can use a DL gift card for anything in the parks (except for the food/merchandise sold from carts) and at the the three resort hotels and their restaurants.

HTH :goodvibes

You sure can, we've done that a few times to save up for a long trip. :) bought gift cards every month or so until we went, it was a big help.

Actually, most of the outdoor carts at the Disneyland Resort have been recently updated to accept Disney Gift Cards as well.

Please note that select Third-Party Companies operating at the Disneyland Resort (such as most of the merchants in the Downtown Disney District and face painting locations inside the Theme Parks) will also not accept the Disney Gift Card.

That's what I was thinking - I used a gift card last year at the cart that sells the delicious pineapple spears on Main Street.

In Downtown Disney, all of the Disney-specific places will take the card, right? World of Disney, Marceline's, Studio 365, etc.? Or do some of them not take it? Well, at the very least, World of Disney and Marceline's will take the card for sure.

I like the gift card because it's not only used for food and merchandise, but it can be used on Hoppers and AP's, as well as towards hotel reservations and even PhotoPass!!

This may be a very silly question, but where do you buy DL gift cards from:confused3? Can you get them from local Disney Stores? I notice on Pixiewings post that she buys them as way of saving for her DL trips and I thought this was a great idea(thanks Pixiewings:thumbsup2)!!

I think there are quite a few people on the DIS who do this! It is a great way to set aside dedicated Disney money that cannot be used for any other purpose, and yet, is so versatile within the whole Disney realm. I started stashing (hoarding!) gift cards earlier this year, and now I am using about $350 worth of gift cards to pay off the rest of the hotel room I have booked for December. (They have to be scanned at the front desk in person - they can't take them over the phone, but they can be used towards the hotel, and the hotels can accept many of them at a time - you don't have to give them just one big card; you can give them a bunch of cards in smaller denominations.) Plus, before that trip happens (IF it happens), I will stash a few more of them aside for food and 'stuff' at DLR.

You can get the Disney gift cards on the Disneyland Resort website, at the Disney Store, at disneystore.com, at any of the Disney parks OR from the Disney Gift Card website, among other places, I'm sure.

In fact, if you get them from the actual Disney Gift Card website (and you can just type in "Disney Gift Card" in your search engine), you will find a much wider selection of cards. The Disneyland website doesn't have too many to choose from.

There is no shipping or tax on the gift cards, so you only pay the value of the card itself.

If you belong to any survey or rewards sites (like Sunshine Rewards or Quick Rewards), you can actually use your points to cash out for Disney gift cards too.

Thanks for your informative post:thumbsup2 I like the fact that I can get them online as well as in the stores. I might purchase online so I don't have to be tempted in the stores:rotfl2:

This is a great way to save for Disney!

And walgreens sells them. And Fred Meyer (a Kroger store), and I believe Safeway (aka Vons for Sherry, LOL).

I get mine at Disney shopping.com or at my local Disney store. :) I've also seen them at Safeway and I've seen them at Raley's but not for a while now, just because I'm not looking for them. :) I used the ones I had and then just go to Disney shopping.com to reload them. :) So we use them over and over again.
I'm glad that I was able to give you an idea and I'm glad Sherry gave you tons of info!! She's so awesome like that. :)

I haven't eaten at Napa Rose but have used them at other restaurants.

I can't remember the name, but the Crystal Shop in New Orleans Square doesn't accept them either.

A few years ago when we went the hotels didn't accept them, but people were getting very cranky, and the began accepting them. That always puzzled me.

Enjoy! I am using two gift cards I received from my daughters for my birthday in less than 2 weeks!

I have a question about gift cards too.
Firt off, thanks Sherry for those rewards web sites! I think I might join and try to earn points in exchange for DL gift cards! :)
But I was wondering, can you use multiple giftcards to purchase an AP? I wanna buy one in January and was thinking that telling people to just get me Disney giftcards for Christmas and my bday (which is also in Dec).

so how does this work? Where on the site can you reload them?

It's been a while since I've done it, over a year, but I went to the place where you purchased gift cards and from there I was able to chose an option to reload.

I agree with the PPs--Disney gift cards are an excellent way to 'prepay' or save towards the next Disney trip :) When grandparents/aunts and uncles say, "we don't know what to give for birthdays/Christmas" we ask for 'Disney $'--the kids can use theirs for souvenirs/snacks and grown-ups can use them for hotel/meals (and souvenirs and snacks LOL)

Also, whenever I'm budgeting for the next Disney vacation, if I receive any kind of 'windfall' (unexpected bit of cash, rebate check) I put it in the Disney cookie jar and then when I have enough I go to the Disney Store and turn them in for Disney gift cards or Disney dollars.

Before we leave town, I estimate how much money per day based upon the meals/activities we've planned and make an envelope allotting GCs to each day. It helps us avoid ATM trips onsite (that can really bust your budget!)

There is an excellent website about budgeting for Disney trips-- I think it's called something like 'couponing to Disney' full of all types of ways to find little bits of savings that can add up to a trip to Disney!!

Hi, Jillian! Yes, sign up with those rewards sites. Over time, you can accumulate little bits of money here and there and cash them in for gift cards.

I think you can use multiple gift cards at one time for an AP. I mean, it will take longer to complete the transaction, but it's still money! I'm taking my $350 in gift cards (broken up into all different kinds of amounts, ranging from $25 to $100 and in between) and paying off the rest of my PPH hotel bill. I told them on the phone that I would have multiple cards and they said that was fine (even though when I hand them all the cards, I'm sure they will be annoyed! Hee hee!). All they told me was that I had to present the cards in person at the front desk so they can scan them.

Also, if you order a Hopper or AP online, I think you can use multiple cards for one order too. Let's say you decide to order and pay for an AP on the DLR website. You can enter in a gift card for $50. Their system will recognize that $50 is the balance on that card and ask you for your next form of payment. Then you enter in another card number, and keep going until it's paid off. I split payments when I ordered my last PhotoPass CD - part of it was on a gift card and part of it was on a regular debit card. So I think you can use gift cards the same way!
