DL for Toddlers?

I have a 2 1/2 year old and I'm worried that DL isn't going to have a lot to do for him. We go to DW atleast 1 time a year and he loves it. I've read some of the thread's that compare DW to DL and I'm pleased and excited at the same time. Can anyone let me know how DL is for the toddlers??? Thanks.

Personally, I think DL is much better for Toddlers than WDW. DL is much like Magic Kingdom except more compact (less walking), and a few more rides. You can stay very close even without paying the price of a Disney property, and get to the park with no shuttles. California Adventure, has a toddler area, although it doesn't compare to Fantasyland. You still have a Toontown, lots of characters (although not as many and as well organized as WDW), and parades/shows. You don't have anything quite like Epcot, the waterparks, and Animal Kingdom, but you have plenty to keep a 2 1/2 year old happy.

I took my daughter for the first time when she had just turned 3. She loved it and there was plenty to entertain her for the 3 days we were there.

One thing I did before we went was to record television programs with the characters just to make sure she knew who they were. She already knew all the Winnie the Pooh ones, but helping her get familiar with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, etc. made the trip more exciting for her (although it took a day or two for her to warm up to them in person).

We went for the first time when my dd was 2.5 it was magical. My hsband and I still remember it as one of our best trips.

There was plenty to do for her and just watching everything and everybody was even more fun for her.

2 1/2 year olds can do almost everything. We brought our two year old to Disney World and Disneyland, and he adored both. He was so good waiting in lines because he knew fun was about to happen. Fantasyland was especially fun for him, of course, but there is lots of fun all over the park for toddlers.

We just returned with our 4.5 and 2 yr olds. Our 2 year old had his first of many on the Matterhorn. He LOVED it. You only need to be 35 inches tall (since you hold them in your lap.)

There are only a few he cannot do, space, tower, indy, splash, thunder mnt. grizzley, soarin, screamin, mullhulland. If he is tall for his age and hits 40 inches that cuts the above list in half.

the alladin show in DCA is wonderful, and we have bug world ( some silly rides WDW does not have) monsters inc ride. The DL small world is more detailed and there are more dark rides.

I agree with the less walking part. DL and CA are very compact. My daughter was a trooper in WDW last Dec. Her brother got to be in the stroller and we forgot how much walking is involved, even just going around the lake in EPCOT.

We're going back next week with our twins who are almost 3
(we were there for Christmas, and their 2nd birthday in April), and our new baby. Our kids LOVE DL! Their favorite things are: dumbo, casey jones, storybookland canal boats, carousel, autopia, winnie the pooh, and the disneyland railroad. They also love the parades and meeting characters. At DCA they like flik's fun fair, triton's carousel, ss rustworthy, the puddle park, and the redwood creek trail. Plenty to do for little ones!

We've been taking DD since she was 13 months and she loved every trip. There is plenty to do with toddlers and the photos you'll get will be priceless.

We as well have taken our DD4 since she was 1..each time we had plenty to do!! She loved the tea cups and small world...she also loved the rides in DCA..there is a lot you can do!!!

We took our DD when she was 2.5 and she loved it! Be prepared to repeat rides, and have her go off to see things that interest her. The rides were not far from each other (Fantasyland) so that was a big help. I stood in line for Peter Pan while Dad took her on another carousel ride (she went on that three times - go figure). The play area and tamer rides in DCA was great! we were on the Heimlich chew chew ride twice (we would have been repeating rides more if the lines weren't so long, and if we had more than a day and a half to spend there). She crashed in the park when we were on our way back to the hotel, so dad had a chance to go do an adult ride. It was a great time!
