For Christmas :santa: , the family and I are going to visit with my aunt and her family in Temecula. My parents called today and asked if we'd like tickets to DL as a Christmas gift? pixiedust: Would I ever!!!! DH gave the okay :thumbsup2 so...I'm going to DL! :Pinkbounc (I'm 31 y.o. princess: and literally jumped up and down, shrieking and twirling!! I am sure others here can relate! :rolleyes1 ) I was way surprised he approved because we spent a week at DL in March and are going on the DCL next September! (I'm a big Disney fan - duh!) So, I'm thinking DL on Wednesday, December 28th? Thoughts? Since we just went for a week, there will not be a push to do it all. But since Disney decided to shut down POTC pirate: during our visit - it will be the first on our list of "things to do". I'm just worried about the crowds and know it can get bad - real bad the closer it gets to Rose Bowl time. I'd like to go on the least worse day. I'm thinking Wednesday - but please help me decide! Thank you!!

hmm... Rose Bowl and Disneyland are pretty far apart... like 100 miles away... i dont know why you would say that...

any day between Tuesday--> Thursday is great! But no Fantasmic shows :(

Actually the 28th is a Thursday this year and I know that the week between Christmas and New Year's is supposed to be horrid but I would think that at least a weekday would be better than the weekend esp since New Year's is on Sunday this year.

My daughter's birthday is New Year's eve and we are going to the Rose Bowl Parade so we are taking her on Friday the 29th. We KNOW it will be packed but let me tell you I was there on Veteran's day last month and the park was sold out and it WAS packed but with good planning it is doable.

Since we were just there we are not going to stress about rides anyway but rather we are doing the happiest birthdays and the holiday tour and just a few rides in between.

Just get there at opening and use lots of fast passes and you should be ok! I will be down there on the 28th but not in the park. I might see you at DTD though! ;)

The colleges that attend/play the Rose Bowl typically spend a day at DL in celebration. In 2000, we were at DL the week before the Rose Bowl and one day the park was packed with the cheerleaders :cheer2: , band members and football players and their families. The college bands were asked to play on Main St. It was insane!!! I believe they even closed the gates - they were to capacity in the park.

Oops, read the calendar wrong. Wednesday the 27th is when we'd want to go!

In March, we had reserved seating for Fantasmic and it was wonderful! Loved it. But man, it was cold!

Yeah, since we were just there for a week, we're not going to push to do it all. We have our faves and will do those!

We'll be there at the same time, the 27th-29th. I wanted to go the next week, but DS is back in school then. I think we'll be facing crowds, but it will still be pretty and festive. Look for my lime green Mickey Paint Chip name tag on my lanyard, and say hello if you see me.
DL can get totally overrun from the Rose Bowl. It's not 100 miles away, it's maybe 30 (oooh, I'm good-I just checked it on Yahoo maps, and it's 31 miles). I can remember going once in the early years of my marriage, and asking DH, "What's an Illini (I rhymed it with cappellini) and why are they taking over Disneyland?" DH had to explain that they were one of the teams in the game that year. We have also stayed in the same hotel as one of the teams, and had lots of noise at night and a picked over continental breakfast in the morning.

I'll try to watch for you!!! I know the first place we will hit when we get in the park is POTC! I was so disappointed they shut it down during our visit in March. Every day we passed it, I would throw myself at the gate and scream, "Why God why?" POTC is one of my favorite childhood memories and I wanted my DD to share in it. So, this time, we will ride it a few times, I swear! pirate:

i dont think it matters... right now... DLR now invites 3 bands a day to come and play for them right before the parade...

The calendar shows Fantasmic shows that entire week, I thought.
