A company I am consulting/training for is kindly sending me to the Disneyland area....and when I asked what "area" to stay in, they said the Disneyland area will put me with 15 minutes of both training sites I need to attend! So I booked the Candy Cane Inn b/c I know parking and breakfast are free and I enjoyed it last time I stayed there. And the real bummer is, the only flight I could get that didn't get in at midnight, and didn't have huge layovers, gets in at 10:30 Sunday morning, Aug. 21. I don't have to leave my hotel until 8:30 the next morning. SO --- I have a whole day to play! I am trying to decide if I should do a one day ticket with hoppers - hit my favs at both parks - or go shopping at a fantastic mall (better than what I have in my town).

I am worried that I'll miss my DH and DD too much --- I've done DL & CA withOUT DH (with DD, mom & sis). I didn't miss my DH there b/c I'd never been there with him.

I've done WDW with DH & DD three times, and once with DD & sis (and missed DH terribly when I did this b/c I'd never been there without him).

I've never done anything DIS without DD. I really want to make a day of it, am dying to see the new nighttime color show at CA (blanking on the name right now) and DL is open 'til midnight, and CA until 10, that night --- so i could totally get my monies worth.

I'm thinking --- go --- just need a gentle nudge to do it!

Also - I know it's probably a NO, but any advice/ideas on ticket discount for one day?

TIA!

I can totally relate to wanting to keep DL a special place to be shared with your daughter. I feel the same way about things like that. If your daughter is old enough, you might consider talking with her about it. That way, you keep open communication (thus avoiding feelings of guilt that could nag at you forever) and you have the chance to get the "nudge" you need from the person that matters most. Chances are, she'll be ok with it. After you've talked with her, you can get a better sense of what the "right" thing to do is.

I love solo trips. They make the family trips even better, because I miss the family when I'm there alone (or with a group of friends).

I don't think there are any discounts on one-day tickets, but if you really do what you want, exactly what you want, it can be WELL worth it.

And if you can convince the family that they want to go inside of a year from your one-day, you could upgrade to an AP and not have to pay twice for a ticket. ;)

I like your thinking! And good one regarding AP's. ;) :) and I agree with both sentiments.
