DL AP - upgrading to use at WDW?

Hello,
I hope that I can check my understanding on this with someone here: We visited DL on August 7, 2010 and bought deluxe annual passes because we were there for 2 weeks. We likely won't go back during the next year, but it's occurring to me that my husband may be more amenable to the idea if the destination were FLorida. Am I right that I can't just upgrade our DAPs to what an annual pass at WDW would cost; I would have to buy the new pass that allows you to visit both parks within the year (which I don't think would really be cost effective for us)? If we were able to go to WDW July 2011 and pay whatever extra we'd need there, we still would only have until August 7, 2011, on our pass, right?
Thank you very much!!

You are correct. When you upgrade a pass it doesn't start a new year of validity.

The Premier Pass that works in both parks will probably not be of value for you. It's $700 and in gerneral you have to make two WDW visits to make it worth while.

Skiingfast,
THank you very much for confirming this for me! Now I guess I will think about how I might possibly make a second trip to DL happen for my family before Aug 2011! And if I can't swing that, I still think that the AP was a good value for us for the time that we were there this past August:)

Well if you do a second DL trip and a WDW, add up the cost of each ticket you would need and see if it work out to over $700.

Another strategy a lot of people do, is if it is close, DH or DM, whoever pays the checks gets the highest level pass and recieves the discounts. So you can get AP room rates and dining/merchandise discounts.

It's all a bit tricky to figure out. Particularily with the tickets at WDW. Multiday tickets for WDW are not much different in price once you get past 5 days it only a handfull more per day. But if you need the PH option the tickets go up a lot. If you add on the waterparks and more, the tickets get really expensive. But not everyone would use this. BTW if you think you might do one water park day, just do a serperate ticket for that one waterpark.

Just to be clear. The WDW/DLR Premiere Pass is $700. You would have to pay the difference between what you paid for your DAP and the new pass.
