DL and DCA in One Day Can It Be Done?

We were hoping to spend two days at DLR with one day at DL and the other at DCA , but now due to budget restraints we may only be able to do one day (I squeezed in this mini trip to Disney while visiting my GF and family LA before we fly off to cruise Hawaii). We have been to WDW (I am the only one in my family who has been to DL but not DCA) a number of times (and plan to return) so we would only be looking at doing rides that were not at DL (or the ones that are better at DL) and just a few things at DCA (Grizzly River Run, California Screamin', the Aladdin Show is what comes to mind). I would like to see Fantasmic and Dreams Come True. Am I insane? Can it be done? Any touring advice (though I know all about arriving early and utilizing FP thanks to TGM, I did this at WDW during peak times and never waited more than 10 /15min in line) would be appreciated. Thanks. :goodvibes

Normally I'd say it's iffy, but whereas you're planning on coming back and just wanna hit a few specific rides I'd go for it.

It's worth it for a few rides at DCA

Ummm, no, when we have 1 day we spend it at DL and then regret missing DCA. Really, you need one full day for DCA and 2 for DL. I wouldn't suggest any less but would suggest more. If you do 2 days make sure to hop between parks, they are so close together that it really doesn't make sense not to hop.

It can be done, I did it last year with my family and it worked fine. We were staying in LA but my dd really wanted to check out DL AND DCA. So we bought a park hopper and it worked out great, we managed to get on all the rides she wanted ! It was great and quick, i say go for it!

I say it can be done, especially if you go into it not planning on hitting all the rides. We just spent a Saturday at DL and DCA and we were able to hit all the FP rides plus others and had a great leisurey day. A lot has to do with your attitude and park strategy.

Also, if you're only buying one day park hopper tickets, check this site:

http://www.employeesavingstickets.com/welcome.php

and use Access code: TCC05

Adult 1-day park hopper $70 (reg price $91)
Kids 1-day park hopper $62 (reg price $81)

Wow great deals on this site esp. the 3 day hopper for $99 (at that price we could afford to stay longer) too bad we not are S.CAL residents.

The $99 Deal Pass is also available at most grocery stores in So Cal. Have your GF purchase the passes for you. They sometimes check id at the grocery store. I've purchased this pass for family and friends for years and they never check for id at the park. The passes are good through 8/30/08.

Thank you. You answered my question from my recent post.

I'll just have my family member get the Tix for us at the GC when we get to town.

$99 ? Amazing.

I'd say make a list of places you absolutely want to go, and aim for those.
But don't get too upset if you don't see it all. Also you should check out
HydroGuy's tips. It will help you utilize your time ! Have a great time !

When are you going? Meaning what month and day of the week.... Fantasmic and the fireworks are not on every day during certain months and there are times when it will definitely be more crowded and therefore more difficult to do all the things you want to do...

What day of the week do you plan to visit? That could make all the difference in how much you accomplish. On a Saturday, it would be very difficult. On a Tuesday or Wednesday, you'd probably have a better chance of getting a few more rides in.

I have read Hydro Guy's tips and took notes so using his advice we are going on a Wednesday (Aug 6) and I have checked DL schedules and Fantasmic has two showings 9:00 and 10:30 (I plan to do the later one) and the fireworks are at 9:25 pm.
