I am taking my GF to Disneyland this month, and I plan to propose to her there. What's odd is that we are going from Friday Nov 21-23, and I want to propose on the 22nd because that is a special day for us, Well she knows this, so to catch her off guard, I want to propose Friday the 21st at midnight. I thought the fireworks were the last thing that goes on at DL then the park closes, but the Fireworks start at 9:25, well before closing time.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can propose at midnight when the park is closing? While everyone is filing out should we stall behind? Will we be told to leave because the park is closing? We are staying at the DLH, is there any place on the walk back to the hotel I can do it at? Any input would be great! Thanks for your help!

AND PS, A BIG THANK YOU TO SPINDISC FOR HELPING ME OUT WITH A SHIRT TO MAKE THIS EXTRA SPECIAL!

PPS: I dont know if this should be posted her or the disneyland section...SORRY if its in the wrong spot!

Ooh! Oooh! This is a great idea! (but I'm biased b/c I was proposed to at Disneyland! :rotfl: )

The shops on Main Street are open for an hour after the park closes, so nobody will be hustling you out right at midnight. I think it would be cool if you guys were just hanging out and then the announcement came on - "Ladies and gentlemen, Disneyland is now closed" - and then you dropped to your knee and proposed, but I dunno if they announce it right at midnight or a little after.

New Orleans Square has a lot of beautiful nooks and crannies that would be great for proposing. Rancho del Zocalo in Frontierland will probably be deserted - it has great atmosphere. And then there's the path from Frontierland to Fantasyland - quite picturesque and usually less traveled in the late evening cuz Big Thunder Ranch is closed. Or how about on a ride? Our friends got engaged on Peter Pan!

Really, I think you could be anywhere in the park at the stroke of midnight and just spring it on her - she'll be delighted!

The walk back to the Disneyland Hotel goes through Downtown Disney, so it's pretty crowded. But you could take a detour to the Grand Californian - there are lots of nice spots there - like the patio off the... fourth floor, I think it is, which overlooks the pool and California Adventure. Or the huge fireplace in the lobby!

Or you could ride the Monorail out of the park and do it then, but it's mighty close quarters with a bunch of other people... :lmao:

There are lots of places!

You could hang around snow white's fountain. Or even just in front of the castle.

Like Carrie mentioned, that lovely spot in NOS with the stair case is always nice, don't know how long they'd let you hang around there for after closing.

I always liked the idea of getting your photo on a ride with the ring showing, and then pointing it out to your GF at the end... Don't know how easy that would be to pull off though.

Thanks! Thats just what i wanted to hear, I forgot they stayed open past midnight! I havent been there in a while, that makes things a lot easier to plan, thanks again for the great ideas, if there are anymore im still open for suggestions!

Carrie already posted my ideas; New Orleans Square and Frontierland (Rancho del Zocalo), but what about the small intimate sittinga rea near BTM fast pass distribution? I think that there is a tiny stage there and nice greenery.

Or the fountain in front of HM

Or down by the water under Hungry Bear

Or under a streetlamp on the ROA

Front/back car of the monorail on your way back to the hotel

Tritan Gardens when the lights are low

On the carousel shortly before closing...last ride of the night

At the DLH there are the waterfalls, I can't recall if they lock them at night, but it is an idea

At the Rose Court Garden Gazebo...(I'm biased we were married there)

Fire place at the GCH...inside or outside..outside is more romantic IMO

If done in DCA before it closes (at 10) aong Redwood Creek as it is usually dead and colorful....or infront of the sun fountian...or at the exit of the Animation building where it says "they lived happily ever after"

Hey GHII!

Thanks for the shout out - let me know how the shirts turn out (especially the hoodie/sweatshirt because I didn't even think to order that!).

Sorry I can't come up with any ideas - unfortunately I don't know DL as well as DW.

Good luck and keep us all updated on how everything goes!

Hey GHII, I was thinking...even though I don't know a lot about DL, I might be able to help (that is, if you're still looking for an idea).

Tell me a little bit about your DGF - what are her likes/dislikes? Favorite characters/movies/rides? Public or private-type girl? Any significant things happening (other than the proposal)? Favorite colors? Time of day? etc.

Again, this is only if you're still looking for help.

WOO HOO! :cool1:

Ohhh I love DL!!! Carrie already gave a million options so I'm sure you don't need anymore. But please keep us posted. One girl was getting a caricature and her Fiancee had worked it out earlier with the artist. The picture had him holding a ring asking to marry her. I don't know when those things end but I thought that was a lot of fun and a great keepsake/story. Good luck! It'll be amazing for her no matter what!

The shirts turned out GREAT! I will post some pictures of them that I took with the ring. I know it will be cold when we go so that's why I got the sweatshirt too.

Well, so far, I know I will be proposing at midnight or a little after the night of Friday, 21st...My cousin and her husband will be with us, and right before I do it I am going to hand them my video camera and camera and then I am going to do my thing. The only question now is where I am going to do it. I havent been to DL in few years so Im having trouble visualizing where would be a good place to do this...I will most likely wind up improvising on the spot. I think she would prefer a more private proposal so it would be nice not to have a TON of people around. Its REALLY nice to know mainstreet stays open an hour after the park closes, but do they block the park off from it after 12? Thanks for all your help!

More than likely if you just hang around and lolligag no one will sweep you out of your area. Just be in an area you like shortly before midnight. Keep in mind, anyone in line at midnight gets to ride the ride so if there is a huge line wherever you are it won't disperse right at midnight. Good luck and as SpinDisc already knows we demand pictures and a recap when it happens!! ;)

Hey GHII!!

What's the good word? Any updates? I'm curious to see how it went.

:thumbsup2
