OK, a friend let me borrow a heating type pad. You heat it in the microwave, it I believe has flax seed in it, and some scented items too. You can kind of moisten the outside slightly, and really helped to relax my shoulder muscles.

So i googled it and found the website
https://naturecreation.com/cgi-bin/shop/commerce.cgi?product=Herb_Packs&pid=5
but the price is crazy high!

ANyone make one of these themselves? I'm wondering where you get the herbs?

thanks

If you buy flax-seeds on the cheap end you should be able to get them about 2 a pound so you need to calculate how much you'll need. The easiest way to scent them would be with dried lavender. I've heard of people making them with rice also. I never put anything in my microwave thats not food so I don't know but you could try to make one on your own.

Bed Bath and Beyond has regular bed buddies and scented wraps for around $10.00. If you get the coupons for 20% off or $5.00 of $15.00 it is very economical to purchase rather than to make.

We made them with rice. You can add cloves if you like to make it smell nice. They also work well in the freezer.

Microwave, but be careful you don't over heat.

I'm a hospice nurse and we use rice ones quite often. Patients fill a sock with rice, add a but of an essential oil if they like and warm them up in the microwave. You just have to make sure to shake the rice around after to eliminate any hotspots and let it stand for a few minutes before applying to make sure it hasn't gotten hotter.

these are so easy to make.... you can fill a clean tube sock with dry rice to whatever size you like, add some spice that smells good- and microwave for about 2 minutes to heat- it releases the moisture inside the rice...

We didn't use socks for ours. That would be fast and easy though.

We made ours with fabric.

I have one and I love it. I think what also helps is the weight of it. IMO the ones I've seen at Bed Bath and Beyond are not as heavy. I got mine from the mall for less than that, I believe I got mine for 30.00. Of course they are not going to just give you that price you gotta work em, lol :rotfl:

I would think if you could sew though they wouldn't be too hard to make. Mine smells almost like Chamomile Tea, I wonder if you could just throw a few tea bags in there for the same aromatherapy effect :lmao:
