Who has made their own save the date cards?? I've seen the print your own ones from Wilton and Bridegirl or whatever, but I don't like the style of them. Either plan, or with a ring. So i have a DISign from my friend on the creative board that I want to us, but i have no idea what to do with it now. :rotfl: And where can i get just plain magnets, and how do i print on them?

Or does anyone else have an idea??

I want to DIY also -- I'm thinking about buying the magnetic backing that you can get for business cards and do it that way... any one know where i can find these?

I haven't personally done them but I've come across some ideas throughout my DIY search since I'll be doing DIY invitations. :goodvibes

Printable Magnets: Avery Product 8374 (Business card size. I think they're available at Walmart, etc.), Avery Product 3270 & 53208 (Cutable magnet sheets for "custom" shapes), Magnacard.com,

Companies who can print them for you (for ideas): SaveTheDateMagnet.com, Exclusively Weddings, Beau Coup

I've never tried printing on magnet material on a home computer, but I'm sure someone around here has or knows someone who has. Hope this helps!!

Staples also has precut - already business card size - magnetic sheet. You just print off the Save The Date on a business size card and stick it to the sheet.

The magnet sheets are very easy to use. You load them into your printer just like paper and it prints great. The only thing that might be stressful is cutting them out. I suggest you not use a border of any sort because that would make any uneven cutting noticable. Good Luck!

I used VistaPrint for mine... too lazy to check stores :lmao:

They turned out nice, but thin. I have ordered magnets from cafe press that are nice and thick, which in retrospect I would have prefered to use them.

But... VistaPrint usually has great deals, they were practically free!

I bought some blank magnets off ebay and they are great. They are plastic, come in two parts with a bevelled front and the back part has the magnet. They look great and didn't cost much at all. The two parts snap together with the insert in the middle

I've done an insert but will probably change it before now and when we need to send them out.

Have a look on ebay for these magnets - they are really great! Magnets

i made my own with card and just purchased a roll of manetic strip about 3 cm wide and just stuck it on the back, noone complained about them and they looked great

I made my sample using Disney fairy tale wedding note cards that I got off ebay and then added wording outside and inside with magnet I printed off at home. I can post a pic later....

For our DD's Sweet Sixteen Ball, we made them by printing them on Heavy photo paper using a business card template. I cut the photos out using a straight paper cutter and used the business card magnet backings from Walmart. I liked them better because they produced a heavier item and we could use photo paper for the printing. To mail them, we bought cards that had the slots already cut into them for placing the magnets into. http://www.theamericanwedding.com/shopping/prod_detail/main.asp-pid-3748
Everyone loved them!
