We are booking our first DIY trip fkying out Sunday 17 May and flying back on Friday 05 June.

Have accomodation sorted and are currently looking at Flight prices but not having booked direct before we have no idea as to what a reasonable price is for the three of us ( 2 adults and 1 child)

Currently BA are £1,892 and Virgin are £1,704 or £1,434 with Miles and Money.

Interestingly I have just noticed that flying out on the Saturday is £1821 and the M & M is still £1434, so for the same price we get a extra day in Florida.

Do these prices look reasonable ? What might one usually expect to pay?

Any information or views appreciated

Hi there,
As you are going for an odd number of nghts, as opposed to whole weeks, you are stuck with having to go for a scheduled flight. The prices you have been quoted look reasonable to me...I don't think you will get much better than Virgin M + M for May/June flights.
Good luck with your planning. We used to just go for 'package' holidays, but now book everything individually ourselves & feel we get much more for our money. Feel free to PM me if you need help with anything!!

Hang fire for a couple of weeks - the return flights are officially released in about 2 weeks time for your dates, so wait till then as the price may drop - at the moment, it will be over-estimated by the airlines until it's 'actually' available.

All flights are released 336 days before the date, so it's worth bearing that in mind.

If you're looking for anything else, be sure to ask!

Hotels are generally available at good rates through Expedia, and car hire is most definitely darn cheap on uscarhire.co.uk. Don't forget to use moneysupermarket.com to get the best deal on your travel insurance. For currency, the high street isn't always the cheapest - if you can order in advance, check out crowncurrencyexchange.com for pretty decent rates.

Park tickets are among the cheapest on floridatix and themeparkticketsdirect.

Happy planning! :goodvibes: :cool1:

We're also planning a trip at a similar time and waiting for the 336 day return flight mark (that was actually yesterday for Rob, bazzanoid :thumbsup2 ).

It's a while since we went at this time of year, so I'd be interested to know what sort of prices people paid around the same time this year (or even last year).

I'm also interested in flight prices for around this time for DH and his fishing chums going to the Keys (flying in/out of Miami). The best I've been able to come up with so far is £508 for Virgin M+M for dates flying out after May 1st. Flying out before May 1st brings M+M down to £408.

In 2007 DH's group paid around £420 using M+M with Virgin flying May 12 - 20 so, what with fuel increases, etc., he's assuming they'll be looking at around the £500 mark this time.

Does anyone know if May prices are ever in one of the periodic Virgin / BA sales? My instinct is that they're not, because it's not historically a quiet time. If they're unlikely to come down a lot, we'll probably bite in the near future, as DH's dates aren't flexible by more than a day or two.
