DIY Changing kitchen cabinets

Fridge sounds like it might be too big for the current space. For fridge longevity along with opening and closing you want to aim for at least 2 inches of free space from each side, depth, and top. I would look for a smaller fridge. It’s the easiest diy solution.
I don't think that will solve what the OP is having an issue with because they mentioned they current set up the fridge is up against a wall. Sounds like the space was designed with only having a single hinged fridge door design. But as a whole I agree that it is easy for people to have too large of fridges for their space.

Aesthetically I don't like fridges that pop out so far into the kitchen. Technically in our kitchen we could have a deeper fridge than we presently have but we could not have a wider or taller fridge than we have. But when selecting a fridge we specifically measured that it would be flush to the wall at the front but allow the doors to be full opened without impediment but the kitchen was built with an alcove specifically for a fridge rather than just a spot along the wall for it.
