My family is thinking of going to Gatlinburg for a few days. I have been there many times, but I have never gone to Dolly's Dixe Stampede Dinner Show. It looks like fun! But I have recently been diagnosed with asthma, and I am worried about the animals, the dust, and the smoke. Has anyone with severe allergies/asthma been to the show? Did you have any problems? TIA!:)

I don't have asthma, but I have been to the show. It was fabulous! I don't remember it being overly dusty in there, but then again I don't have asthma so I'm wasn't looking out for that. So I guess my post is a friendly bump!! :cool1: I hope you have a great time when visiting there, it's a lovely area!

It really depends on what your asthma triggers are.

I've got asthma and allergies. I never went to Dixie Stampede, but I've been to Midevil Times and had no problems--except the lack of silverware. :rolleyes1

My boss and her grown daughter recently went and her daughter had a horrible asthma attack shortly after the show. They don't know if it was connected to the show or not, but she said that it was very scary because they had forgotten her inhaler.

I have asthma and went to the Dixie Stampede in Branson. I brought my inhaler - just in case - but didn't need it. We were 4-5 rows back from the 'field' but they seemed to have a very good ventilation system. It was summer and there was a lot of cool air blowing throughout. It might be different in the winter but I did fine.

I am allergic is everything (grass, trees, smoke, dust, etc, etc, etc) except dogs. Even 'horsey' smells can set me off. I hope that helps.

I worked at the one in Pigeon forge for a couple years and we had one lady come and she really shouldn't have considering she was alergic to horses? BUt that is another story..
my daughter has slight asthma and she never had a problem and even joined in the show a few times. They water it down and rake it (the dirt) between every show. As far as dust--the only rows that ever got any dirt kicked up on them was the bottom row-(they will sell this as the front row.) As far as smoke I don't know what you are referring to? they jump through a ring of fire but then it is put out right away. There isn't any smoke. HTH

Do you have any triggers related to horses or animals?

My MIL really has athsma, she had NO problem whatsoever that I know of!

And, yes, the field is specially formulated and maintained.

It is a GREAT show!

As far as which row... As you probably know, it is kind of 'stadium' style. Well, instead of seats, though, it is like some pretty tightly spaced bench seating.

When we went, it ended up being a wonderful thing, instead of a bad thing, that we were on the back row!!! we had actual chairs to sit in, instead of being crammed in the bench seating with everyone else!

Dixie Stampede can fill up quickly during busy seasons. So, make your reservations ASAP. I would reccommend 50 yard line on the back row. ;)

And, dont forget to bring your plastic silverware! ;)

If you want good seats tell them you want to be in sections c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k,l and rows 2-5. If they sell you sections a-b or sections m-n they will tell you it is right by the stage but the stage is just a prop that is not used at all. those are the seats everyone complains about. Also-if you are going in the summer book asap. they will add shows if the ones listed on the website sell out. I have worked days where we had five shows in a day when the website only showed 3. so, call and ask! And have fun! and remember the tip is not included in the price -people always wonder about that! and go hungry with clean hands!! and if you have any desire to be picked to be in the show you must have on regular shoes with a back on them. No sandals whatsoever.

We went to the one in Orlando a couple of weeks before they closed down. I think I read on the program or somewhere that they use a "dustless" ground cover.

DH has asthma - triggered we know for sure by cats, quite possibly has other triggers - and in all the times we've been he's never had the slightest bit of problem.

The only thing he has a "problem" with is the price. I keep telling him it's Dinner AND a Show. Plus, we, there's 4 of us, always leave with a doggie bag.

The dinner is very good, very plentiful.

And the show is great!

The ventilation system is top-notch. You won't leave with dust on your clothes, won't notice dust on your seat, table, dishes ... very clean, no horsey smells ... just lots of fun!!

I have asthma and had no problems at all. My younger daughter has a severe allergy to horses, and she had no problems either. We sat about halfway back if that helps.
