Has anyone been to Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede in Orlando? Your input is appreciated. Thanks.

We (my husband and I along with our two sons 14, and 11) went in April and enjoyed it very much. The main show was very entertaining as well as the pre-show. I liked that there was seating for everyone at the pre-show; that's not always the case at these dinner shows. They get the audience involved throughout.

We enjoyed the food (soup, chicken, pork, potato, corn) and the servers were very good. The one complaint that has come up here on the boards--although it didn't bother me in the least--is that there are no utensils. You pick everything up with your fingers to eat. There are wet-naps at each station, so you can clean up after you're finished. If this is something that would bother you you could certainly bring in some plastic flatware but heads up on that anyway.

We really liked it a lot and when we go to Orlando in late November, we're thinking of going to the Dixie Stampede Christmas show, which is different.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much Lisa. My husband and I have been thinking of going to Dixie Stampede but I just wanted to make sure that it was a good show and that the food was good. I will definately be making reservations for Christmas. Thanks again.

We (DH, DS(12)and I) have been to Dixie Stampede twice in Myrtle Beach, and we love it. I could make a meal out of the bread, soup, and apple turnover. YUM! We are having our Christmas dinner at the one in Orlando this year, while at WDW. I can't wait to see the Christmas show. My Dsisters go to the Christmas show in Pigeon Forge every year, and say it's beautiful. Not to be missed! Enjoy! :)

I know a few folks who work at Dixie Stampede and just wanted to give an FYI...

Christmas at Dixie Stampede is very very popular and there are already several shows that are almost sold out during the Christmas season. If you are thinking of going during November or December, you really want to decide on a date and make your reservations asap to make sure you can get great seats for the date and showtime that you want. Also, if you make a Christmas show reservation before October 27th, they can give you an early booking discount on your tickets - about $7 off for adults and $2 or $3 off for kids.

From a personal standpoint, I have seen the show several times and always enjoy it. Having seen all the other arena style dinner shows in town, I can say that without a doubt Dixie Stampede has the best overall package with a great show and a great meal. Don't forget to get there in time for the pre-show with the Electric Cowboy from Australia...he really is a fun entertainer.

One more thumbs up for Dixie Stampede. Very entertaining, better food than at most dinner shows, good family fun all around. :)

Could someone give a basic description of what the show is about, what happens? We went to Arabian Knights last year. Is it similiar? Just more western theme?? I have a 12 year old cowgirl who began gaming, barrel racing this year. Sounds like something she might enjoy......

Thanks,
Jenn

When you make your reservation, you'll be asked if you want to sit with the north or with the south. The show revolves around a friendly competition between the north and south. You root for your team to win contests by stomping your feet. Lots of horses (beautiful ones!), pig races, ostrich races (with jockeys!), certain audience members will be selected to participate with some of the contests. Song, dance, comedy--Dixie Stampede has it all. I'm sure your daughter (and everyone else in your group) will enjoy it.

Does anyone know how much the tickets are the Dixie Stampede Christmas shows. We are going the first week on December. I looked on their website but it does not give you a price. Thanks for your help.

Just another opinion since we have done Dixie Stampede (in Myrtle Beach) and Arabian Nights. The food is MUCH better at Dixie Stampede. It tastes like fresh country home cooking. Everything was excellent. Arabian Nights was like cafeteria food. As far as the shows go, both are good, just different. Both of them beat the pants off the WDW dinner shows in both price and entertainment value.

I just looked up how much I paid. It was $42.57. This includes tax, and a $7 discount for booking early. The Christmas show is the same price as the regular show. You will have to pay in full, when you book. I think it's well worth the money. :)

Including tax it will be $42.59/adult and I think $18.09 for kids if you book with the early booking discount before 10/27/04. Not sure if the military special will still be running for Christmas but active military with appropriate ID get in for free as long as there is another paid adult admission.

Sorry about that. My total for 3 adults (we have a 12yo.) was $127.77. When I divided it for you, I mistakenly wrote down $127.72. I'm glad someone knows what their talking about. :p

edited to add: PammyK, weren't you the one who told me all about Pat Obrien's? If so, you definitely know what you are talking about. We loved it, and went twice. Thanks!

Yeah....it was probably me. My friends & I go there most Tuesdays after work for 2-fer-Tuesday. The courtyard is great for just relaxing with drinks and a snack of cheese fries or chips & dip, isn't it? I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as we always do.

We just saw the show on Thursday, it was GREAT. By far the best food we've had at a Dinner Show (most of it makes us rush for the restroom after the show). We also were chosen to 'ride the horses', which if you've been to the show you know the couples that go down near the end to try and win a point for the North or South, ride those really nice horses around the barrels....LOL, don't want to spoil it for those of you that haven't been yet.

We did enjoy the service, the food and the entertainment. We really were not that impressed with our pictures though, we would have liked another background but they only had certain backgrounds for certain party sizes. You won't be disappointed though, it was a lot of fun.

Thanks for reminding us about the early discount. I just booked for early December for the Christmas show.

Thanks to whoever posted about the Military get in for Free Deal. I called them and they are honoring it during the Christmas Show. When ever we go to Orlando we like to try a dinner show and last year was the Pirate Show which my kids loved but this trip my mom is going and I think she would enjoy the down home feel of this show. So thanks for the tip!!:hyper:

Where exactly in Orlando is this show located? I don't remember seeing it. Also, how is the seating done, first come first serve? What is the arena like, are there any "bad" seats? TIA for answering my many questions!

Dixie Stampede is located on Vineland Avenue, across the street from the Orlando Premium Outlets. From Downtown Disney, head up Hotel Plaza Blvd. to SR-535. Turn right onto 535 and get over to the left lane. You'll go under I-4 and at the first traffic light after the I-4 overpass, turn left onto Vineland Avenue (there is a Bahama Breeze restaurant on the left corner as you turn). Proceed up Vineland Ave. approximately 1 mile, passing the Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine and the Outlets on your right. The driveway for Dixie Stampede will be on your left as the road curves around the outlets. The address for internet mapping programs is 8251 Vineland Avenue, Orlando FL 32821.

Seating is assigned at the time the reservation is made. The seats are set in a horseshoe shape around the performance floor and split down the middle to form a north and south side. The first row has booth style seating and the remaining rows have individual chairs. While there are no "bad" seats in the arena, people definitely have preferences as to where they want to sit. You will need to decide whether you want to sit on the north and cheer for the Yankees (or North Pole elves during Christmas) or on the south to cheer for the Rebels (South Pole elves during Christmas). If there are any folks in your party with mobility impairments that require a wheelchair or otherwise prevent climbing stairs, you should sit in the 6th row which is accessible via elevator. All other rows in the arena do require the ability to climb at least a few stairs.

Although advance reservations are not required, they are most definitely recommended as shows do sell out. They have a toll free number 866-443-4943 and the reservations department is open daily from 8am until 9pm, although I've heard they may have extended closing to 11pm. If you want to go during the Christmas season, do yourself a favor and book now. Most of the Saturday 6:30pm shows are almost completely sold out in December and they are already scheduled to have 4 shows on a couple of those Saturdays.

Pam,

Thanks so much for the detailed info. We are planning on going President's weekend so I better get on the stick. Do you eat while watching the show? In Arabian Knights we were seated at a type of counter rather than a table. One last question to anyone who might know. Are there any good sites where tickets might be discounted? That's it! I can't think of anything else :~)

Thanks again,
Jenn
