This very day, 20 years ago, I arrived at the Dixie Landings with my new husband. It was our wedding day and we went to WDW for our honeymoon. It was a brand new resort! We had an amazing time!

Now, 20 years and 2 kids later, we just booked our trip to POR for next summer! Can't wait to go back. Too bad they had to change the name. So excited to get to go there again!

Congratulations! We also had our honeymoon at WDW 22 years ago, stayed at the Carribean Beach..2 kids and 6 trips later, heading back with our college-age kids this summer (but to the Beach Club). I didn't realize at the time what wonderful family memories we would make together at what has become our favorite place on Earth.

Just love WDW:love:

Happy Anniversary!! :goodvibes My husband & I celebrate 20 years next May & I have talked him into a trip for just the two of us. Can't wait!

Yes, that's the wonderful thing about WDW! It's awesome WITH or WITHOUT kids!!!

So nice to return where it all started, with the kids now!

Our honeymoon we stayed at POFQ - and yeah, was pretty nice to take the kids now many years later.

Our pics from the honeymoon - we only have maybe 4 that were okay - not sure what happened, but rest of the film was ruined?
But one shot we DID have was me standing in front of our door to our POFQ room - and many years later, recreated the shot of the kids at that same door! (had to squint really hard at picture to figure the room # out, lol!)

Aw, that's awesome!!! Yes, it's fun to go alone, but to experience the "magic" with your kids is like nothing else!!!

Happy times at Dixie Landings , wish the name would come back!

Your posting made me think of our honeymoon in 2006!

I hadn't been to WDW since I was 5, so going at the age of 24 I wasn't sure what to expect!

We had no idea what we were doing when we reserved through AAA (which looking back, how dumb we were!!!! AAA Isn't a great 'agency' for trip PLANNING!) They'll book you, but as far as planning, an itinerary, - we didn't get any of that! The lady literally handed us a black and white rumpled copy of all the restaurants and said - here you go, pick out where you want to eat. We had NO CLUE!!!!!

We knew what we wanted to spend, and that was about it - and once we learned we could have a castle view from Wilderness Lodge we requested that! It turned out to be a Castle in the background, and dumpsters and service area in the foreground LOL We didn't know! HAHA

We booked 'Club Level' - had no idea what that was, what it meant, or why it was different - they didn't explain any of that to us!

So when we arrived at Wilderness Lodge, and the CM at the desk fiddled around with our reservation for a while and then went in to the back we thought - OH NO! They've lost our reservation!!!! :(

Well, when the manager came out, greeted us by name, whisked us away into the elevator to a key card only access floor we were like 'What in the world?!?!?!'

Well, when we got the grand tour - refreshments, and all the information we could possibly need - we just sat in the room and waited for our luggage to arrive. When it did, we greeted the bellman, he unloaded the luggage, and was gone before we realized we were supposed to have tipped him!! HAHAH
I grab cash, and take off running down the hallway in my sock feet to tip the guy - HAHAHAHA What a sight we were!

We love Wilderness Lodge - we cannot go to WDW without making a pilgrimage to 'the Lodge' as we lovingly refer to our log castle home away from home :cloud9:

It is just such a majestic resort! Stunning!

So anyway - here's to honeymooning at WDW - and for the love of the Mouse that started it all! :wizard:

We stayed at DxLs on our first ever stay back in '99. When we returned, in '01, it had changed to POR!!! It will always be special for us....I love staying there every so often. It brings back the most wonderful memories of staying with my mom and dd. Mom is gone now, but I can relive those wonderful times just by walking around POR.
It's so wonderful to go back with the kids!!! Have a great time!!!

Happy Anniversary! We celebrated our 25th a couple of years ago, but at POFQ. That's our favorite resort. We didn't do a honeymoon at Disney, but we've made some great memories there over the years. Have a wonderful time!

happy Anniversary! We honeymooned @ POFQ. I love reading all the people that have honeymooned there. People though we were crazy.

Has anything changed besides the name? We were there about 19 years ago, I was 10. It was one of the last trips I took with both my parents before they divorced. I remember not liking how far away the bus stops were from everything. After that trip my family always stayed at Caribbean Beach. :)

I'm wearing my Dixie Landings t-shirt today. It has Donald fishing on the front. I can't tell you how often people ask me where I got my shirt and how they can get one. Sorry...it's just a very old shirt. I love it and won't give it up!

We honeymooned at POFQ in 2007 and had the time of our lives.

Two years ago, I was talking to a co-worker who was getting married later that year, and his mother (who also works with us) and his father were gifting them their honeymoon. He was talking about going on a cruise, and how he was looking forward to it but they'd been on SO MANY CRUISES. I started talking to him about our honeymoon and how we had such a blast. The next day his mom called me and said, "well _____ and ______ now want Disney for their honeymoon, help!" They ended up staying at Caribbean Beach, so they got Disney with their cruise feel to it. They had a blast and came back thanking me!

Next year we'll go back to WDW for the first time since our honeymoon, and which will also be our kids' first time, and we'll be staying at AoA.

We're also taking both our mothers, mine who hasn't been since 1998, and has never seen AK or either water park.

My MIL hasn't been since 1986  and she's never been to any park besides MK!

I can't wait for them all to experience the magic!

It will always be Dixie Landings to me & still one of my favorites!

Enjoy your trip!

why did they change it :confused3

It was due to some of that Political Correctness Stuff. The same reason most children don't know what Splash Mountain is about.
Any way we took our first Adult trip to POFQ without the kids for our 30th anniv in 2006. We had a great time at FQ in February Hope you have a great time:goodvibes

Aw, thanks for all the great stories!! Seems like a popular place to honeymoon! So excited to get to experience POR with the kiddos! Now, how to make the year go by fast.....:rotfl:

I still call it Dixie landings and we have fond memories of two great family trips there before the name change..I get tired of "politically correct" at times...
