This weekend I decided to get a few of the players I play most often their diver and car pins.

It has been a long time since I played and in my opinion the diver quest is alot harder to acheive than than the first car pin. Why

I found the 10 minute limit on pirates very frustrating. First being a weak player and second the VMK lag. In the car quest all games do not have a time limited. And if you lose you do not have to go back and buy another item. You lose nothing buy playing ghost you do not have to pay to play for ghosts or fireworks.

Now this being the first pin new players try for; I think many would fine it frustrating. First because they would have limited credits. And second the time limit on pirates.

For example I played over 12 games of pirates at 21 credits per game losing all of them. And being bad I would average 3 credits on most. Then I would have to go back and buy a 25 credit item again to play after I kept losing.

so it work out to 100 in pins and maybe 316 credits in loosing. But I did get 112 credits when I won. But that is a big lost for new players.

So I think if they ever tweak the quest which is very fun to this point is to also make the pirates game unlimited in time just like the other car quests games. Still would cost but at least you could just stay at the dock and keep trying.

So in my opinion getting the diver pin is so much harder than the first pin in car quests. What is your opinion.

One of the worst battleship players on VMK.

I totally agree. I have written the black hole about the part of the pirate game being timed and having to re-buy items. It is certainly not very child friendly. If it were not timed it would be a lot better and do not put buy an item on any quest!!!:thumbsup2

Having played with you this evening, Your not all that bad, but close ;)

And I agree, dive is difficult. I think a lot of players give up on getting to the top of tom sawyer's island. :sad1:

You really need to get some of your friends together and have them lose on purpose for you. Tell them that you will lose on purpose in a future game so that they can make up the credits.

Yes. I agree. This has been my problem with that quest for a long time. It was different when we had the old pirates game. In the old game, you could play all by yourself against AI players and come out with the 100 credits you needed. So you didn't have to wait on a team to join.

I've learned that before running a character through this quest, it's best that they can play any level. I do not hit the "Nest" button on the quest until I'm in the Pirates lobby. And, since I can play at any level, I can just jump into the first battle game running.

Also, I've learned to cut down on the expense of the quest, to have the Lumiere already in the inventory since it's needed for the next to last task.
So, if the character doesn't have it already, that what I usually buy from Imports on task 11, unless I lose pirates task and have to buy again, then I buy a cheap pin.

I do hope that when the re-do the quests that they make the Diver's quest a bit easier and cheaper to do.

Your post really struck a nerve with me, Belle.

I, too, decided to get Diving Magic for a second character. However, I am a pretty pathetic Pirates player -- and I have just now come from playing ten of the most frustrating games ever! And I still haven't completed the quest!

In addition to your other excellent points, I ran into the following problems:

First, I had difficulty even finding Level 1 Ship Battles to begin with. Everybody was either playing Level 3 or Capture the Flag. I'd announce that I was doing a quest, but nobody seemed to care. And, of course, the whole time the clock is ticking away....

Then, on my second game in a row, my team actually won. Only then did I find out that the timer had run out during my winning battle! ARGGGGGGGGG!!!!!

I did, however, discover that -- if I quit the quest entirely after failing at this task, and then re-started it over at Captain's Quarters -- I'd still be at the Pirates task. So at least I didn't have to keep buying stuff at Small World Imports.

I have a lot of younger kids hang at around me asking for free stuff. I did it to myself. When I get bored on VMK I go walking around Main Street area and look for new people and gift them a crown or hat.

I encourage them to earn their dive pin when they ask for more free stuff. I say if you get that pin I will give you other magic. Which is less and less now that I can no longer earn fireworks magic. I usually help them through the mine. But very few finish the quest because of pirates. So here I am trying to get them motivated to earn for themselves only to be demoralize on their first pin.

I had not played battleship since pirates had changed I did not realize how painful it was. Yes I played when all you needed was to stay afloat. LOL I weaved good shot bad but still got my pin. Or at least make capture the flag another pirate area you can play. You have a better chance of playing and not losing points.

So if VMK is reading this. This is a very good quest. My suggestion is either make pirates an unlimited time. Or have another quest that has magic that is easier to do for new players.

By the time this quest came out most beta players were very good at many games. Just something to think about .

PS I really miss the fireworks pin. When you got it for winning so many games. It was wonderful fo quest prizes and new players. Maybe we could get fireworks pins again and also an invisble pin for so many games won in mansion.

Keep up the good work:thumbsup2

Yes... we too decided to get a few of our characters plus my sister theirs too before the new quest come out. See when we first started our son helped us with all the games last year. That was another reason too. We wanted to see if we could do it on our own. Boy was it hard..but We Did IT!!

I agree Teddie that if you buy Lumiere ahead of time that helps. We found that out my mistake when i already bought it.. so we did ahead on others.

The Pirates game was the hardest for us... since we had to wait to play with someone and hope our time didn't run..which it did!
I do hope that when the next one comes out that Diver pin will be easier..or at least no time limit on the games and less credits!

I agree. DD and I did this quest when we were new to VMK and we so frustrated we almost stopped playing all together. We finally got through on our main characters, but I refused to play Pirates so my other two people will just have to go without. I really hope VMK makes them easier to do.

You do NOT want to know what I said when I was working on this quest! In three languages, no less! Hmm, (very) loosely translated: My! How vexing!
