Welcome to the DIS, jskelton83 .

I've never experienced Dive Quest so I'm just going to bump this back to page one for you so that some of our veterans can offer advice.

I haven't done it but from what I have read, you do not need park admission to do Divequest, nor are you allowed in the park when it is over, park admission is seperate. You also have to be certified in scuba diving open water to be able to do the Divequest.

My son did Dive Quest in November. I'm thinking we paid around $120 for it (with a Disney Club Discount). You must be an open water certified scuba diver to participate. Park admission is not needed, but you will not be turned loose in the park when it is over. You will get a T shirt with "DiveQuest" on it. They will video tape the dive and you can buy the tape for about $40. If some of your party does not participate in the dive, you can watch from the Living Seas (park admission is required naturally). They will video tape the diver against the glass with family looking on. The video tape makes for a great souvenir of the dive although it is not long and all the divers in the group will be on it also. There is less than a minute of footage of my son on the tape, but we love having it. If you have a good video camera of your own and can have someone tape from the "dry" side you can save some money. The only equipment my son was allowed to use was his own mask. He was not allowed to use his dive computer, which stressed him out somewhat, but he got over it. All in all he LOVED the dive.

I beg to differ... I was cut loose in the park following my dive, and was allowed to meet up with my family, and didn't have to use a ticket for the whole day. It was fantastic! Additionally, several of the dive party I was with were allowed to use their dive computers - obviously just depends on who is looking after you that day.

I'd recommend it for your family if you are all Open Water or better qualified, and you want to dive in an environment that is THICK with sea life, and also people-life in the restaurant and observation platforms.

You get a discount if you are a PADI member too.

My husband is a certified diver and has participated in this program twice because he liked it so well. For 140.00 he recieved a t-shirt, pin, and certificate. Park admission was not required to do the dive, and he was allowed in the park after the dive, though there were only about two hours left that it was going to be open. They first watched a video and were given instructions on what they could and couldn't do in the tank, and what they would see. All total about an hour and a half worth of briefing. Then they were taken in two groups of 4 to the tank (there were 8 total participating) and spend 40mn or so diving. They swam through the artificial reefs, and got really close to the sharks and rays. They also interacted with the guests through the window of the Coral Reef rest. and the people in the Living Seas area. Afterward they were provided with Mickey soap and shampoo to shower and change. We also purchased the tape for 40.00. It was a fun experience for all of us!

I'm a cerified diver and would like to try Divequest. Do I have to make a reservation way ahead of time and use the reservation to get in Epcot? How long is the dive?

Disney lists it as being a 30mn dive, but they were actually in the water for closer to 40mn when my husband went. This is the number to call:
Reserve a place by calling 1-407-WDW-TOUR (1-407-939-8687)
Total time is 2 1/2 hours and it is offered daily at 4:30 or 5:30pm
There is a limit on the number of people they allow to dive at each of the time slots, so it wouldn't hurt to call early.
