to be honest if you bought our local paper here inthe UK you wouldn't stay where i stay either but its not as bad as the paper makes out and no different from anyway else. the man we hire our car hire from in Orlando has just moved down from New York as the crime rate up there was so bad and he said florida was 100% safer. so don't worry to much.

Unfortunately as wonderful as Orlando is like anywhere there is still going to be crimes committed.

I was only reading this yesterday about another attack on IDrive, wondering if things are getting worse?
I read orlando sentinel site everyday, never read local paper/sites here so probably a lot worse going on here but I don't know about it.

I always felt safe in I drive and all the tourist areas but it is disturbing.

I live here and like in any city there are areas where you should not be going. In Orlando, it is the Parramore area. Close to the downtown. The tourist areas are safe. I live across the street from WDW and it is very quiet.

With that being said, you still need to be vigilant about your purse, camera, lock your car, don't go around flashing lots of cash etc... the usual precautions applies because of petty crimes.

Remember that the press and tv don't report the mundane day to day. Only the sensational, that's how they make their living.

Otherwise, have fun.

I feel safe and I never leave disney property so I feel that little bit extra safe

I live in Nottingham, in the "inner city" area which, according to the newspapers has a very high crime rate, burglaries, stabbings, shootings, muggings etc etc etc.

I have lived here for 10 years.

I have never been stabbed, mugged, burgaled, shot, had my car broken into or anything. There have been NO burglaries and NO car cirme on our street since I moved in nor do I know anyone who has had this happen to them.

The media have to publisise something and usually latch onto stories and blow them up out of all proportion.

Nottingham is a very nice place to live and Orlando is a very nice place to go on holiday!!!!!
