Hi, not sure if this is the right place to ask this or not. We were originally doing the Disney Cruise the week of March 12th for sons birthday but had to cancel due to unexpected expenses. Well now we are going to do Disney World instead and already have flights to/from Fort Lauderdale since cruise left out of Miami. Is it crazy to still keep the flights to/from Fort Lauderdale since it is about another $2000.00 to change to Orlando and rent a car to drive to/from Orlando?

Yes, that would probably make sense. The drive from FLL to WDW is about 3.5 hours on the Florida Turnpike. Not sure how much that will cost you in tolls, but way less than $2,000!!!!

Having a rental car will also give you flexibility to do other things in addition to Disney. You might want to consider visiting Universal if your boys are Harry Potter fans, everything I read says it is fantastic. We are taking DS, DIL and 11 year old granddaughter in February and decided to do a split stay 3 nights Universal Studios (most likely at Cabana Bay) and three nights in Disney at Pop, to take advantage of the benefits offered by the on site resorts for each.
