Distance from Emerald Island Resort to Disney theme parks

We will be staying in Emerald Island Resort and was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of the distances to the theme parks.
I have been told that the nearest one is AK.
The thing is that there are 12 of us going but only myself and my BIL are the drivers- due to non drivers and under 25's.
Obviously, with a wide range of ages and preferences, we won't want to be joined at the hip and would like a bit of freedom to do as we please and we have a 15 month baby boy in our party.
We were thinking that some of us wanted to go to say, MGM while others didn't, would it be easy to get there and back in a taxi or are the distances too great, hence making it expensive?
When you have paid your share for a minibus, it's not really very fair to then have to turn around and shell out for cab fares.
Can anyone help ??

Hi Lin,

Emerald Island to Animal Kingdom is 4 minutes. To the other Disney parks allow around 10 - 15 minutes door to door.

Taxi's are easy to find outside the parks, but I cannot vouch for the price or any particular company as I have never used them.

When do you go to Emerlad Island?

We have just booked for next Easter, but have not stayed there before. We would be really interested in knowing what you and anyone else thinks of it.

We have one of the townhouses booked. The piccies look really nice.

Julie,

I know I'm biased because I own a Townhouse there but it really is a fantastic resort. For location, landscaping and amenities there is only Windsor Palms (also a great resort) on a par with it.
