No, it is not walkable. Actually Disney discourages walking anywhere outside the resorts and theme parks by not providing any sidewalks to get around. They do, however, provide transportation to get just about anywhere you may want to go although sometimes you have to go a bit out of your way.
From your resort you would need to either go to any theme park and simply hop on a bus to the Animal Kingdom Lodge or any other resort you would like to visit. Going back you would do the same thing. Just go to bus stop at the Lodge and hop on a bus to any theme park and then hop on the bus to your resort.
You can also take a bus to the Marketplace (especially after park hours are over) and go to the stop designated for any of the Disney resorts you wish to end up at.
It is great fun to resort hop while you are at WDW. The Animal Kingdom Lodge is a beautiful place to see and I would also suggest visiting some of the other resorts such as the Wilderness Lodge, Grand Floridian, Boardwalk area resorts. Each is uniquely themed and well worth the trip over.
It is also fun to plan a meal at one of them if you have the time to do so. We always have lunch at the Grand Floridian, breakfast at the Kona Cafe (Polynesian) and my kids love to eat at Boma's (AKL) and Whispering Pines (WL). It is also fun to explore their shops.
If you want to see the GF or Poly, take the resort monorail while you are at the MK and it will save you some time.
Have lots of fun seeing all the "world".
