Distance between Epcot gates

I just returned from Disney. While I was riding one of the Friendship boats from MGM to Epcot, a lady asked about getting to the monorail. One of the boat captains told her it was a mile and a half from the IG to the front gate to get the monorail. I know it's quite a hike, but is it really that far? I'm sure someone on the boards has checked the distance. I read in a book that it is 1.2 miles around the World Showcase lagoon. Sometime I would like to wear a pedometer to see how far I walk in a day at Disney.

1.5 miles?? really???? It sure as heck doesnt seem that far!! Im interested in hearing if this is true! Gosh.. I must walk 20 miles a day at Epcot!!!!

I am sure that it would be that far. Considering that it is a long walk from the back to the front of Epcot.

I wore one of those meters at work and found out that I had been walking 17 miles a day. I about fell over after I saw it.

While working at the spaceship earth, its ride runs at 2mph. You walk for 8 hours on that, you've walked 16 miles and havent went anywhere.

I'd absolutely say over a mile - I could see a mile and a half from gate to gate. I've gone that way many times. DS (18 yo) & I often cut thru Epcot from our resort (we usually stay Swolphin) to catch the monorail to MK. I'd say it's easily 15 minutes at a fairly fast paced walk to get to the monorail station.

Think of it this way. It takes a good 7-8 minutes from IG to Soarin' at a fast walk. Soarin would be about 1/2 way to the monorail

Part of it depends on which route you take, but taking the most direct route, it should be about 3/4 mile. I was looking at a scaled map, and it looked like a mile from IG to the back of the main Epcot parking lot, but that wasn't taking into account all the winding you have to do. Has anyone ever done it with a pedometer?

how about back n forth to the BCV from Mexico with a counter service tray? yup done that route a few times too!

My DS5 got sick during our last trip in October. We were staying at BCV; our pediatrician had called in antibiotics for what he suspected to be a sinus infection, which were being delivered to the front desk. After DS had some Tylenol, he felt ok. So, we decided to go over to Epcot WS. We went at a wonderfully leisurely pace. He was fine until we got to China - his fever came back & of course, I'd left the Tylenol in the room! So, I told DH to stay in China with DS & DD and I would go back & get his prescription from the front desk, Tylenol from the room, and come back to China. It took me just over an hour to make the rounds! I thought I never would get back to China!! I joked that no one could ever say that I wouldn't go half-way around the world and back for my children!!

I ran from Soarin to the BCV via the Internation Gateway with my 4 year old in a stroller, HE SLEPT!!!!, that felt like 1MILLION MILES:lmao: I am not a runner but my DS needed his sneakers to get on a ride, the things we do for our kids:rolleyes:
