Even my local Uno's charges 11-13.00 for an individual and it is not gourmet in the least.

We have a wood fired pizza place locally and the cost per slice is comparable to Via Napoli and it is delicious.

Oop paid 97.00 including tax and tip for enough food to feed 6-10 people. Even with 4 people dining that is still a good deal or a Disney sit down ( 20.00 pp ). I can't even go out to lunch w/ DH at a chain in the Boston area for less than 38.00 with tip, that is 19.00 pp.

When my mother and I paid Oop for dining in May I estimated 40 pp for a TS meal ( including drink, entree, dessert and tip) and 20 pp for a CS. Including alcohol and snacks we spent just under 500.00 over 5 days dining @ WDW. It is important to estimate costs correctly when visiting WDW, and naive to expect to pay regional prices from back home while there. I guess your only excuse for that assumption would be if your flat under the lovely bolder to the right didn't get internet connection so you can check allears. :scared1

Disney prices are certainly inflated-- just as they are inflated when you go to a sporting event, or a movie theater. But it seems like many people exaggerate the degree of price inflation. People talk about the prices at Disney being "double or triple" -- That's simply not the case. I find the prices on Disney menus to be 10--20% higher than I would expect from a similar restaurant outside of Disney.

Two large pizzas and "free" water for all was a whopping $97.31. I am still amazed. As soon as our server realized we were not there on the dining plan, the meal went downhill. She turned her nose up at us when we went for the free water rather than the large selection of bottled options.

Our pizza was burned on one end and underdone on the other. Go if you must, but be forewarned.

Has anyone else had this experience? It was a first and last visit for us (I had so looked forward to it).

From my experience, bad service can make a so-so meal worse (just as great service can make a so-so meal better).

I'm also guessing by the cost that you were a party of 6 (or more) and got hit with the automatic gratuity - even for the sucky service?

I understand that with wood fired pizza, you may end up with a few dark or "burned" spots but undercooked spots are not acceptable. Since owning a bakery for a year and a half (ten years ago), I just can't handle any yeast product that's not fully cooked.

You can slap a gourmet label on anything but that doesn't mean it's really gourmet. Bad pizza is bad pizza and poor service is unfortunate.

In fairness, I've had the "real" pizza that so many mention here and I didn't care for it. It's just a matter of my personal taste and doesn't mean that it's actually substandard food. I will therefore likely never try this pizza place. Undercooked portions of the pizza sounds all wrong though and there's no defense for bad service.

We went to Via Napoli for the first time last week. We were a party of 3 adults and we ordered 2 individual pizzas and the salad for each diner. The bill (without tax and tip) for the pizza and salad was $44. That is less than $15/person and we were more than full. I thought the experience was overall very good. Certainly not the best pizza in the world, but it was tasty and service was great.

We did stop for a caramel in Germany on the way out.

Ate at VN last week. The 5 of us (all adults) ordered one individual and two large pizzas. There were no appetizers/salads/desserts ordered and we had plenty to eat(one slice remained uneaten). As for the quality: Certainly streets ahead of anything pizza we've had on property, but not the greatest thing ever.
I'm glad we checked it out, dunno if/when we'll be back.

Even though some of the reviews haven't been great, my family is still going to try out Via Napoli when we go to WDW in August. We'd really just like to form our own opinions about the restaurant/food, we will be 3 adults and I figured we'd order either the large pizza/salads/drinks or just the 1/2 meter pizza/drinks (if we are starving). Either way, we'd probably be under $60 for that meal, and though that might seem like a lot it'll probably be one of (if not the) cheapest table service meal we do on the trip. Compared to Ohana's or Jiko or pretty much any other table service meal that will easily cost up over $100, VN isn't horribly priced for a meal for my family.

I don't expect VN to be a great value, everything at disney is expensive, for my family it's better to just plan ahead for costly meals and know to keep our expectations neutral then if it's great we will be thrilled and if it's not, we won't be overly disappointed. Either way, we will know what we are in for cost wise long before we reach our destination.

Sorry the OP didn't enjoy the meal or the price tag, but hopefully next time you fill find something that better suits your family.

We were there in Sept and thought uhe food was so so. Figured ok we've done it no need to go back.

From what Id been told the burnt crust is from the brick ovens and it didnt bother us really. Pizza was better than the chicken parm and tasteless spaghetti torta. Dessert was ugly but good cookie and was ok also.

I never understand why one poster offers their opinion of a place and then an entire brigade mobilizes to convince the masses that the OP is wrong. I also find it laughable to say that Disney prices are only 10-20% more than a comparable restaurant offsite. You just lose all credibility when you try and make that arguement.

The truth is that Via Napoli is practically bargain dining compared to what most of the places have turned into. Just hand Mickey your wallet and nobody gets hurt!

I didn't "cherry pick" NYC.

I happen to live 15 minutes away.

Nor did I state that it was a meaningful standard. Certainly prices in NYC are higher than average. Any tourist-centered area will have higher prices. Those of us who travel often are accustomed to that.

I thought it would be helpful to post the prices I paid when I most recently made a similar purchase. I shared my experience without commentary and people are calling it absurd.

If you live under a rock, then Via Napoli MAY impress you. As I posted in another thread, it has hit me that the majority of users on this site live under rocks, enjoy subpar food, never leave their homes or all of the above.

Via Napoli is no more than an overpriced bad version of every coal fire pizza place out there. We ordered the pizza that serves "5", 5 what? infants? We wound up going to eat a 2nd dinner because no one in our group was even remotely "full" (Ages: 22,24,25,70,65).. and our bill was still $50+ for 1 pizza + 3 sodas (not including tip).

If you are on the DDP then maybe it's worth it.. but if you are paying OOP, I'm sure there are better choices out there.. like chewing on some rocks

(1) I neither live under rocks, enjoy subpar food, nor am I a recluse. I enjoy most of the food I've had at Disney World. Go figure.

As o the pricing, we know the pricing as the menus are readily available. Seems likely that the OP included the tip in his post.

So should Disney be offering all people the exact same moderately priced vacation? Should a deluxe room at the Contemporary be the same price as a room at POP?

Of course not -- Disney offers different vacations, at different price points, for different visitors. Do you object to Victoria's and Alberts-- do you say, how dare they charge over $100 per person for a meal?

I routinely pay prices fairly similar to Via Napoli for gourmet pizza. Sure, the Disney prices are a bit inflated -- Via Napoli charges about $18 for an individual pizza. The place I go for gourmet pizza, charges about $16 for an individual pie.
If you want 'cheap" pizza, you have other places you can go at Disney. Different offerings for different people.

I am not defending Disney's pricing -- that is supply and demand. I am defending their choice to offering deluxe vacations, to people who want deluxe vacations.

That's the problem though and that's why you are hearing many many more vocal complaints on the price.

Disney is charging deluxe prices for subpar prices. $41 bucks for a standard size pie is double the price of a normal pie.

I will gladly fork over hte price for a deluxe resort but are you going to tell me a deluxe at disney is comparable to a deluxe in any other place on the planet?? Please. simply go 1/2 a mile to the Waldorf if you think that.

I'm just a gal who wants quality for her money. I totally expect to pay more at a vacation spot, what I don't expect is mediocre to lousy food.

Now I haven't tried via Napoli and now I'm reconsidering. With adults I just can't see paying 80 bucks for 2 pizzas before drinks and with a 50% chance it may be so-so. For me it's not the money, I absolutely hate leaving a restaurant and saying "what a waste of money".

We ate at VN in late November and it won't be on our list of places to go back to. Aside from the price, which we had looked at ahead of time, yet still left us with that "sticker shock" feeling when the check actually arrived , the pizza itself just wasn't good. I had a margarita pizza which is my favorite type of pizza. It just didn't have good flavor, and ONE basil leaf in the middle. We joked how we should have run back to the garden in the UK, they had bushels of basil in their herb garden. We didn't complain, there are so many dining options at WDW that we just don't go back to those that we weren't fond of.

We just got back last night from 8 days at Disney and we ate at Via Napoli twice. We all enjoyed it, especially the peperoni (sp?) pizza. We all shared the pizza, including my 4 year old DS so we didn't have to pay for a kids meal on top of ours. We paid out of pocket and plan to return there in the future. We didn't have ADR's and just walked in for lunch and were seated right away.

Service was very good, and we noticed another table asked for more basil for their pizza and they brought a bowl of freshly cut basil.

Everyone has their own opinions and favorite places to eat, we all have different palates and that is what makes the variety of places to dine at Disney so interesting. My brother loves Chefs de France, but I won't step foot in there ever again. Go figure.

I also do not "chew on rocks" when I dine, I have eaten at some lovely establishments throughout the US and Europe.
