Dissappointed with ASMO

We have stayed at ASMO several times and this time was so disappointing. Our bathroom was full of black mold. It wasn't that it was hidden in a corner or that someone just missed it, it was completely out in the open in the shower. I could not believe it. My sister had the connecting room next to ours and hers was worse. Her shower curtain and the line you pull in the shower to hang your clothes was also moldy. After 2 days my mother called the manager and they sent up housekeeping. When we came back it still was not acceptable. The next day the manager came up and cleaned it himself as well as changed my sisters shower curtain and the line.
We had also requested cups and the mousekeeper never left them for us. I had to call daily to request them.
The pools were really unacceptable also. The water was not clear. I understand that it is a public pool, but when you go under water with your goggles and see that the water has particles floating around, it is gross. There were band aides. The worst part was that a little girl vomited right near the lifeguard chair and he didn't notice it. The girl was gagging so I don't know how he wouldn't have heard it. We were actually outside of the pool at the time and my sister went up to the lifeguard to tell him. He called on his radio and then told people that the pool was closed for maintenance. Thank goodness everyone that was in the direct area of the vomit had already gotten out of the pool.
I don't know, but for some reason after being at WDW 30+ times, this time, I was really grossed out, not just by the hotel, but by people. We were at the Magic Kingdom sitting and waiting for the Main Street Electrical Parade near Tony's. A woman in a scooter was with her 4 year old (or close to that age). She told the girl the pee in the puddle of water. It had rained prior to this. She pulled down her pants and peed. I have never seen such a thing. Don't people have standards anymore? There were no CM's in near proximity. We immediately got up and left the park and on the way we told a CM.

Ugh! That's no fun. Sorry you had some not so magical experiences.

And the woman who said to pee in the puddle?!?!? Some people....:sad2:

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay at the Movies at this time. I think I would have asked to be moved at another bldg. That room is not acceptable. No one should have to experience that no matter what level in Disney World. If the manager have to clean the bathroom themselves, that is sad. It's not their job, but I guess it has to come down to it because the mouskeepers can't do their job.

Besides the room issue and the girl peeing on the ground in the park, I hope you still enjoyed your time in the parks and with Mickey. I hope your next trip will make up your poor experience at the Movies. :)

I've seen kids just squat down and pee on the cement at Typhoon Lagoon before. It completely grossed me out too. I just looked at the parents and said, "REALLY?" in true Seinfeld fashion. Glad the water is chlorinated.

Sorry your ASMo was disappointing and the room and pool were gross.

Usually the grounds, pools and rooms are so nice at WDW. Getting a room with issues is such a let down. And when you call for service to get things fixed and nothing seems to be done it adds to the disappointment. After so many visits, you are bound to find out not everything is perfect all the time. Next visit will be better!

Mold, Mildew, both are unacceptable when you are talking about paying thousands of dollars for a vacation. I didn't even mention that the room wasn't vacuumed on some of the days. I have never experienced anything like this before at Disney. We always had a great experience. We checked out the Art of Animation resort while we there and loved it. Hoping to stay there next year.

Although once you see something you cannot unsee it, but we did manage to have a great trip despite all of this. Mickey always makes us smile!!

I agree that mold and mildew are not something that should be tolerated in your room. I'm not sure why you didn't complain on day one! It should have been cleaned asap or new rooms given to you. If the manager had to clean it themselves, maybe they are having issues with their housekeeping staff.

I could have swore though that I read that they don't have housekeeping vacuum every day. Only when the room turns over.:confused3

The pee thing is just absolutely disgusting. :scared:

Were there crowds of people waiting for the parade with you? Just wondering if anyone said anything to the mom of the peeing child.

We were recently in the parks, too. (August 4-10 at Kidani Village) I completely agree that people can be just gross. My DH and 7 year old DS went into a restroom at MK (the one by Pirates), and DS reported that someone had defecated.... in a urinal. What is wrong with people? At Typhoon Lagoon, the water was so chlorinated our swimsuits reeked long after we left. I can only imagine what people do there that the water needs to be so heavily chlorinated...

I do think the hotter the weather, the nastier things can happen! I don't know if people don't feel well due to the sticky heat or what, but our hot summer trips have always seen more "gross" incidents in the parks and pools!

I am glad someone finally came up and cleaned your shower.

It drives me nuts when they don't vacum my room, we aren't that messy but we do usually eat breakfast in our room so things do get on the floor. Vacum it up before the bugs want to come feast on my carpet is my motto!
