Dissapointing First Impression of DVC

First of all let me say that the discovery of the Dis boards has threatened my work and personal life at home....

JJ,

I just read this part of your OP again and had to just laugh....

It's a dangerous addiction, indeed

Just wanted to say that I hope your trip is everything you'd hoped for!
Sending you some pixiedust: and hope you'll decide to become a member of the DVC family...where 'add-on-itis' is yet another addiction :wave2:

We rented a few times from the same member, never had any problems.

I hope you got it all out with MS on Monday, Disney Lover JJ, since you won't be able to call them again until you become a member.

JJ, You survived the DIS Boards! Congratulations! pixiedust:

BTW, someone inadvertantly posted incorrect info. The 407 phone number is for CRO, meaning you are paying cash to Disney to stay in one of their hotels. The only time they have info on DVC hotels is when you are paying cash for a DVC hotel room FROM DISNEY. If you are renting points for your stay, you(or the owner) must go thru the 1-800 number to get info on your reservation. CRO and MS have separate computer systems that do not overlap. Most of the people at CRO don't even know what DVC is  So, if your room was reserved with points, you must go thru the 1-800 number to receive info.

As you have already found, some members can be anal about MS. MS is over-burdened, and it's due to some members who seem to have nothing better to do than to repeatedly call MS to make and cancel reservations on a regular basis. Then there are the renters who contact MS about availability for people who have no intention of renting points from the renters. This group of people are only about 10% of the membership, but they account for about 90% of the time spent by MS on the phone, and tend to account for dues increasing to cover the expenses to run MS. :furious:

Wow thanks...it's a good thing I didn't try the 407 number then...as the CM would then be REALLY frustrated with me jejeje...

Actually, MS does have their own 407 number, different from CRO, however that's now irrelevant.

According to This Thread non members may no longer contact MS about reservations.

BVC23 / Zalansky: Thanks for the breath of fresh air and best wishes...I have simply come to accept the fact that there are people here who use the DIS boards to release their stress in life....honestly there is no other reason for the personal attacks...alll said...I can't wait until SAB and BCV in November...It'll all be worth it.

I hope you have a wonderful trip, but honestly if you felt any of what you shared in your OP about the conversation was rude or anything that was discussed afterwards then you are going to have many disappointing moments here and with calling Member Services, if you become a member.

They are a business not your Mother. Sorry if that sounds tough but it is true.

The best advice I can give anyone new calling Disney, is let them ask you for what they need, don't try to jump the gun and give them info. They are working at a computer screen and are trying to be quick and get your information and go to the next call blinking. By jumping a head of what they need, you were making their job harder and to them quite possibly they consider that rude.

There is always the other side to the story. Just as your intentions were never to be rude, the CM at Member Services might have hung up the phone and said, Boy some people are just so impatient and won't let you get a word in.

As to the comments here, I saw no personal attacks , I saw long time members sharing a wealth of information and not a single person trying to release any stress in their life.

**edited** I didn't realize this thread had 6 pages...had I read all the rest I wouldn't have posted.
your post reminds me of the guy whose honeymoon was ruined because he was sick.

Oh lord, I remember that one.

I just stumbled across this thread, but just by reading the OP I knew what direction this thread would take.

Sammie:

I agree there wern't any overt personal attacks, or the mods would have delted the posts/locked this thread.

However, I did feel that JJ got jumped all over, flammed and slammed, and that he/she handled the fire gracefully, calmly and far better than I would have.

ThenI found another thread by JJ commenting on annual fees. I started to wonder how could such a new member hit two hot topics so quickly, and I began to see Troll-sign.

However, since JJ has consistently replied, and remained very civil, I'm giving him/her the benefit of the doubt, and assuming a new, intelligent, well researched member.

Overall, as a community I feel we were quite harsh to JJ.

JMO, YRMV,

Be well!

I'm not believing a word you post, Tony. ;)

Tony, thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt ;) In all honesty, the reason why I commented about annual dues and the MS is because I am seriously considering becoming a DVC member, and wanted everyone's perspective to help me make the decision. I consider these two topics to be of major importance with making the leap...so I apologize if I caused a little stir. I love Disney, I truly love the boards, and I have done a ton of research regarding DVC...so you can always expect honest opinions and answers from me.

And FWIW (very little if you ask most around here!) I do believe you, and you owe no apologies (except for causing MS to not take my renters calls anymore! :teeth: ). We owe you an apology, and you have mine!

P.S. Deb & Bill, too funny! Hope the RC healing is still going well, looking forward to a slingfree Monday!

Get over yourselves. ... its just a timeshare.

As far as I'm concerned, NO, it's NOT "JUST A TIMESHARE" :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: .... It's Disney Vacation Club... Owned by those who   the magic....
