Dissapointed with World of Color

That right there is what I think problem numero uno is for people who are disliking it so far. Different views reap different rewards and the more times you see it, the more you can know what is coming up and can look for different things

I've been waiting since the beginning of this thread for someone to say that because I wanted to see how long it took. I may have missed it before, but this is the first time I've seen it mentioned
I said it - sort of - in that I gave a summary and link to something I wrote last month. I said I saw it twice - once from a very good spot at 9PM and we were fresh - amd the show was spectacular - and a second time from a mediocre spot at 11:15 and I was bone tired - and the show was diminished for me.

I personally think a majority of the people who do not like WOC is because of a poor viewing spot, a poor experience waiting for the show, or seeing a late show when they are too tired. After you weed those people out there are some who still did not like WOC very much. Those people are the ones I try and listen to more to what made them not like WOC. I think several posters in this thread fall into this last category.

This that Joan said " Wish they just ran the fountains and music all evening and one could stop for few minutes and enjoy. " I could agree with this- I have not seen WOC yet, other than the online version opening night. I have no desire to see it. I have no desire to wait in line for hours on end to see it. I would Love to see Fantasmic again on our upcoming trip, but could care less about seeing WOC.

Just saw WOC on Friday night, we did love it, but also agree with some about viewing area- we had a pretty good spot, no one for about 10 feet in front of us, and the lower half of the projection was still difficult to see. We really didn't have to wait like others to get to our spot in yellow (we had won tickets, and they never gave us the fastpasses so a CM had us just wait with him) we slipped in with the yellow group, and we made sure to stay in the back. The waiting like cattle would turn me off as far as seeing it again. I would just show up before it starts, and hope to find a spot in the back.
The crowds keep me from going back to Fantasmic for the last 20 years or so. One day I will have to break down and take the grandkids.;)
I loved it and am very glad I got to see it! And, yes, I cried a bit too.:cloud9:

Our family just returned form DL and we all loved the WOC show. I had negative expectations after having to show up 1.5 hours early for a spot and fight the crowds, but the show made up for it. Definitely we would do it again.

However, we saw Fantasmic the following night, from a seated table at Riverbell Terrace, and none of us care to ever see that again.

We saw WOC at the Verizon/Coke private party last Friday night for the first time, both of us really enjoyed the show. We saw it from the higher lever handicap area which made the view straight on with no heads in the way. I'm short so I'm sure I would've had a different opinion if I was down in the crowd. I was surprised there wasn't any story or theme, but it didn't bother me.

DisneyIT - you might want to try Fantasmic again when the dragon is functional. We noticed a few pieces missing from the show Sat night so it wasn't as good as usual. The new dragon was pretty cool when we saw it last year.

Thanks, but the dragon was functional when we saw it, we only heard about it breaking after we left. Maybe we will feel different after some time and go see it again. But for right now, there will be one less family and maybe you'll have a better view.:thumbsup2

I haven't seen the show in person but I did watch the whole show online and I have to say it was really long and I was getting bored and kept thinking when is this thing going to be over? There were a lot of elements that could have been left out. Like the Bugs Land scene and Wall-E and a couple of other non-musical scenes. It seemed weird to me and time consuming. Cut all the second-rate movie stuff out and streamlining the sequences more might help. The other thing I noticed, which I've heard no one comment on anywhere so maybe it's just me, but for a show that is supposed to be all about "color," they sure seemed to focus a lot on blue way more then any other color. I kept thinking "blue again? don't they have any other colors in the World of Color show?"

A PP mentioned that the water screens were a distraction and I agree with that. Maybe less of that and more neat stuff with just the fountains. I enjoyed those parts more then the screens but there wasn't enough of cool fountain type stuff.

Like I said, I haven't seen it live so I'm sure the experience will be different and my opinions may change. My main concern about going is that it's just me and my DS4 and I'm worried about him not being able to see the show. We are going for Halloween next month and I've decided not try to see the show this visit. I think with the all the hoops and hurdles you have to go through that it will be more hassle for us then to just skip it and do it another time. I do hope to see it sometime in the future though.

I really wanted to love World of Color-I still want to love World of Color. But in its current form, I just don't.

I am fine with it not having a coherent story--I actually prefer the Disney shows without a rushed story (for example, Festival of the Lion King which is like a greatest hits but doesn't try and explain a movie in 20 minutes)

I have three main problems with the show

1. No performers
There is a human "live" element missing from the show. It's the human presence that makes Fantasmic more engaging. If I were programming the show, I would add actors or singers in.

2. The Screens
Way too much of fuzzy images on water. The projections just aren't that clear or that interesting. I wish they would use the film clips more sparingly and allow the fountains to be the star with the clips in supporting roles.
I was in the dining section smack dab in the middle and was often wondering "Am I missing something here? What about these movie clips is amazing?"

3. Too long
After a really stunning opening song in the first few minutes--I got kind of numb to the elements of the show. The effects started to feel redundant. Fire is a good change to kind of wake you up again--but that's the biggest surprise. Once you've seen about five minutes of the show, you know what you are going to get for the rest of the show. For some reason, fireworks can get away with that for me--but fountains--even amazing ones-- can't.

It's still a good show that is absolutely worth seeing if you don't invest a lot of time. I also love the music of the show, they did a great job with that. But for the love--don't wait forever in line to get a fastpass and then wait forever again to get a "good spot" before the show starts. That would, to me, be a monumental waste of time.

My momma and I loved it. We saw it twice. We had phenomenal spots both times, but saw a bit of a later showing from teh back, and it is just not the same if you have a bad view, like the back. I really enjoyed everything with teh exception of the 10-second Bug's Life whatever, but it was a good lead-in to the next segment. I think everything flowed really well and it's just a great show. :goodvibes
It's so unique, in my opinion. I don't think I'd change anything. :thumbsup2

For the majority I think you are right Trey. But I think it is very poorly organized just like waiting to check in for "F". If I go to a broadway show and have purchased tickets I sure do not want to stand in line to get to my seat. I also like live action and saw WOC late at night and must admit I was tired, and must admit I was more impressed when I saw part of it from our room. Hope all is well with you and safe from the fires.

We had decent viewing. Thankfully we hadn't gotten there terribly early but happened to time it well. I carried my 4 year old on my hip so she could see. My 9 year old would not have been able to see it at all except that a nice lady in front of us asked if she would like to stand in front of her. I thought the show was interesting for a bit but I was never moved by it. I don't think the effects overcame the lack of theming and continuity and discomfort for having to stand so long. I liked it fine but if I went back to DL I wouldn't schedule it again.
