Dissapointed in POFQ

We just returned this morning from a week at POFQ. I was dissapointed. There was a gummy bear on the floor, no laundry bags, only three glasses left in the room each morning with four people in the room. The second day, we had to call at 5:00 to have housekeeping come and clean the room. The sheets were changed only once and it was only evident that housekeeping picked up the wet towels and made the beds. She did nothing else. I will say that everyone else around the resort was friendly and helpful. Housekeeping however is lacking!!!

Sorry to hear you housekeeper wasn't up to par. We were there last year and three years ago, and had great service both times. Our housekeeper three years ago left us all sorts of towel animals and told us to take them home with us. I think it is "normal" for hotels not to change your sheets daily, as I have experienced for myself and have read on these boards. Whatever you do, don't read those posts....you'll never sit on the bedspreads again at WDW or any other hotel!!!

However, when we stayed there three years ago, someone left a tray on the steps and it was there for 4 days...yuck! Other than the tray, we have nothing else to complain about. At this point POFQ is our favorite. I was very disappointed that it was not one of the resorts offered for AP rates this year or with the free meal plan.

That is too bad about housekeeping and the gummy bear. Yuck. :sad2: Did you fill out a comment card? You can always ask to speak to the manager on duty at the front desk, or even the hotel manager about continuing problems like housekeeping. Disney management always wants to know when things are good and when things go wrong - they've told me!

I hope things are better for you next time.... :)

Best Regards,
Julia

I managed to get a last minute AP rate there for this coming Thursday through Sunday

I would not stress. Housekeeping issues happen everywhere. The best way to deal with them is by dealing with them directly while you are at the resort.

Sorry to say that for the first time ever we had these same issues with mousekeeping at the GF. We are not overly fussy people and could really see the difference between this trip and the last two. We did complain and they sent a different mouskeepter who did a wonderful job. Unfortunately we only had her for two days and then the mouskeeping went down again. We complained again and for the last two nights we had impeccable service and even towels animals (the first time ever for us). However I think its sad that out of 15 nights we only had four nights of good service.

It turned my DH off so much we are now reconsidering staying at the GF. I am hearing more complaints from other people staying in all different resorts about the level of mousekeeping. Our room wasn't even hard to clean since I went around picking up each morning before we left. DH and I couldn't believe that we had better service the two nights we were at the Nick Hotel than the nights at the GF.

I totally agree with you. I make sure every morning before we leave the room that nothing is left out in the housekeepers way. I have never been fussy over such issues, but have never had these issues before. It was just dissapointing when our previous trips have been wonderful.

We have gone to WDW 8 times and we have noticed that housekeeping, as well as other customer service, is not up to what it used to be.

We rented DVC points and stayed at Saratoga Springs this trip. I payed the extra fee to have daily housekeeping. The first day we came back from the parks, our beds were made, but the carpet was not vacuumed, the cabinet was not restock and there was coffee left in the coffee pot.

I always leave a tip for housekeeping. The next day, I did not. We came back from the park and the room was cleaned much better. I left a tip every day after that.

Had the no tip not taken care of the problem, I would have called management, expecially since I was paying extra for housekeeping.

Just an FYI. Lots of hotels have quit changing the sheets every day. And in truth, do you change your sheets at home every day. They claim it is for the environment, but probably it's to save money LOL! I don't mind them reusuing the sheets as long as they leave me clean towels.

Disney changes the sheets on the beds every 3 - 4 days (basically once during a typical week vacation). Most hotels do this or they leave a card on the nightstand for the guest to put on the bed if they want the sheets changed. Once a week is fine at home and it's fine for me at Disney.

I wonder if Mousekeeping at POR has problems!!! We stayed there in 2001 and it was the FILTHIEST hotel room I have ever stayed in. Not only was everything in the room caked under a layer of dust, but there was trash under the beds and smudges on the mirrors from the prior guests' who stayed there :sad2: It was so gross, we actually stayed offsite last time because we were so disappointed in our stay.

It's not just you....I think they do have poor Mousekeeping at that resort.

I stayed at POFQ last May and couldnt have been happier with them, room was clean towels replaced,(I got towel critters the first time in my 14 stays just got a Mousekeeper that knew how to do them I guess) and the beds made.

I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside in February 2004. Our room was spotless every night when we returned. No funky carpet stains, bed made, bathroom sparkling. Had it not been this way, I would have said something to management.

For those you do not say something while there and come home and blast the resort on the Disboards, why :confused3 ??? Nip it in the bud and say something to management!

Were the grounds well kept? Was the pool enjoyable? How was your check-in and check-out experience? How was the restuarant and lounge? Would you say you were disappointed overall or just in mousekeeping? Does mousekeeping make or break a trip???

Funny story about mousekeeping, while we were staying at POR our friends were in the room next to us. After a few days my friend asks me if I leave a tip for housekeeping every day, I assured her I did. My friend was puzzled because they had put the money under the mirror, on the bed, under the dirty water glasses and this maid just wouldn't take it!!! She was perplexed, the maid even moved the money to make the bed then placed it exactly where it was. We know this because they took a picture of the money where it lay on the bed. :earsboy:
In the end I gave her a 'mousekeeping' envelope to put the money in and it was gone the next day. :teeth:
To be honest I couldn't tell you how clean our rooms have been we were either so exhausted that we fell into bed or so looking forward to getting to the parks we never noticed!

I'm sorry you were disappointed with Mousekeeping at POFQ.

We had no problems with Mousekeeping during our recent stay at POFQ in April. We didn't get any towel animals, but didn't expect any. We did receive clean towels and new shampoo/soap, also the floor was noticeably vacuumed. When we wanted extra pillows and wanted to make sure that the sheets were laundered because DS had an accident, we left a note with our tip.

Personally, if there had been a gummy bear on the floor of my room, I would have used a tissue to pick it up. I agree with others that I would have called Housekeeping to make any complaints/special requests.

I would say that housekeeping was the only thing I thought was impressive at POFQ. Our room was very well cleaned quite early in the day. The rest of the resort, well that was a different story....found it to be really quite boring.

Sorry to hear of your negative experience. We just got back from POFQ earlier today, and we couldn't have been more pleased. Although there were just 2 of us, we had enough towels for 4. Housekeeping always replaced our used towels, replenished shampoo/soap, etc., even though we hadn't used everything yet. Room was always clean (and cold!) when we got back from the parks. I did notice what looked like a red marker stain on the comforter, but it didn't hamper our Disney experience in the slightest!

We stayed for two night at POFQ earlier this summer. We loved the resort & would love to return again sometime. Our room was nice but we did have Mousekeeping issues. We always return to our room about 3pm to shower, nap & recharge for the evening. Upon checking into our room at 3pm, I was upset that we had no soap, shampoo etc. We reported it. 30 minutes later we still had no soap. Dh phoned again. He was told that the shampoo & soap had already been delivered. We assured them it hadn't. 20 minutes later we FINALLY received it. Also, upon arrival we noticed that there was a wad of hair in the corner in the bathroom which I cleaned up. The next day we received our soap stuff but no coffee. Obviously, they have some training problems. Oh and we always tip our mousekeeper but don't know why we did this time. It didn't do a darn bit of good.
