Disradio = porn?

I got the surprise of my life this morning at work. I always listen to DisRadio throughout the day and without thinking, typed "Disradio.com" into my browser. I got a message stating:
"This type of web site has been blocked for all users. Reason: Category: Pornography"

I was all freaked out for a moment, first being bummed that my work blocked DisRadio and then thinking...wait..Pornography? Did the Disradio domain name get bought by a pornography site??

Then, my sleep deprived, uncaffinated brain realized that I typed the URL incorrectly. The true URL is www.wdwinfo.com/disradio/

I am now happily listening to my favorite radio station. heh.

Looks like it was registered by a domain scavenger, and currently connects to a german server which serves porn.

Stay far away.

I wonder if Pete can claim the name under the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy?

I tell ya, it totally freaked me out! I think it's horrible that someone grabbed a family friendly radio station domain and twisted it for porn. Makes no sense to me.

I clicked on an education link in an email one time and it took me to a blocked site that also said PORN. I immediately called my help desk and fessed up b/c if Big Brother is watching, I don't want Him to think I was trying to surf porn on my computer.

Sometimes, workplaces look strictly at the server that hosts the website. I work for a school district. I had to request that prezi (a presentation creator) be unblocked. The head of our tech dept. told me that it is hosted on a European server that is known for hosting a lot of porn. They just flat out blocked everything from that server. They will only look at unblocking by request for anything on that server.
