I can't even spell....

I just realized tonight that I am at the weight that I was two years ago agian. How did it happen? I swear it was overnight...

My question to you is:

What method of losing weight and getting healthy (I.E. not tired all the time) has worked best for you?

I pretty much know that there really isn't a particular thing out there that will do it, it's a personal combo of things but I am curious what is working for everyone here...

Thank you and I am sure I will see you agian soon!!! :)

Hi DMickey28! It's great to see you here on WISH. I hope you will be taking the challenge and sticking around to become part of my support group.

I have followed every possible eating plan that has ever existed, I think. All the fad diets (cabbage soup anyone?), low fat, Weight Watchers. All of them worked to a certain extent but my current controlled carbohydrate plan seems to be working the best for me now.

Finding the perfect plan for you is a large part of being successful. I hope you can figure out which plan is a perfect fit for you. No matter which plan you choose, I can just about guarantee that there are other WISHers following it too.

WISH is just a win/win situation :teeth: Please be part of it :)

DMickey,
Don't be disgusted with yourself. Use it as an opportunity to change your habits and become healthier! We'll all be here rooting you on, PROMISE! Seriously, once you join us, you'll be sucked in and will find it very hard to quit!

What I've done is:
#1 started Curves.
#2 restarted Weigh Down Workshop. It's a Christian program that uses scriptures to point out how we should be eating to please God. No counting calories, no counting points, no avoiding certain foods. Just the freedom to eat WHATEVER you want, as long as you do it within the paramaters of hungry and satisfied---only eat when you are truly hungry (growling stomach, not bored, depressed, or social eating) and stop when you are satisfied (not uncomfortable, bulging at the zipper full) My first time through it I lost 20 pounds in 12 weeks, but have heard testimonials of people who have lost over 90 pounds in 20 weeks!!! Of course, everyone needs to follow the plan that they can best follow....that's why I'm going back to this one. I can't count anything or avoid anything or eat anything "diet." :)

HTH.

Welcome to WISH!!

Thank you for the warm welcome!! I have tried to lose before, but I think that I am ready for it now.

OhioMinnie= I have thought about curves. is it really a 30 minute circuit?

NativeTxn=I truly promise to do my best to join your group. Thank you for welcoming me in.

30 minutes. That's it. 5 more for stretching afterwards. It's a great workout, especially for my attention span. You only spend 30 seconds at each station. The woman on the CD says "switch stations now" and everyone moves on. By the time your arms (or legs) are getting fatigued from that machine, you're moving onto something else!

Curves is what gave me the kick start to get healthy. Before that I avoided all exercise like the plague. I have a bad bad family history of heart disease and am now 35 yrs old. I knew it was only a matter of time before I started having problems. Now I feel SO much healthier, and toned. Still flab in the middle (thank you dd and ds) but I think that will come in time.

You do have to pay, where getting videos at the library or walking around your neighborhood is free. But I like the fact I have to pay because on those days I'm feeling a little sluggish I think to myself "I'm PAYING for this even if I don't use it!!" Also, at approximately $30 a month, I figure it'll take a LONG time to get up the the cost of a cardiac cath!! So in the long run, it's worth it if I can hold off on the heart tests!

Feel free to fire out more questions!

Oh good, I hope you decide to take the challenge. Just in case you do, would you do me a favor and post to the WISH challenge thread too? Posting there makes you an official WISHer. You will find the Challenge thread right HERE.

After you take the challenge, you may add the WISH member clipart to your signature if you want. What we do is begin with a zero loss no matter how much weight we may have lost before taking the challenge and then every time we lose 5 pounds we get to "trade up" to a new clipart. It's lots of fun and quite motivating.

There is an excellent post by our own Wovenwonder telling you how to add the member clipart to your signature right HERE.

I hope you can visit WISH often--it's a very helpful place :)

Hello and welcome!

Weight Watchers worked the best for me! I had cheese for lunch every day (well, probably 5 or 6 days a week...) and managed to lose 20 pounds! :) Then I started to modify my diet to focus more on building muscle and losing body fat, so I haven't really lost much from what the scale tells me, but I am smaller! If it wasn't for WW though, I never would have gotten to this point!

I have also been successful with WW. I love the points program because it is easy to use and understand and best of all there are NO foods that are off-limits. If I really want a cookie (or pizza, or cheesecake or mexican, etc. - you get the picture) I just find a way to fit it in by planning my other meals around my indulgences.

The points plan is one that I believe I can live with long term. I never feel hungry and the weight is coming off! :)

Good luck with whatever you decide but make sure you come visit us often! The support I get here is so important for me and many others here!

Hi DMickey28,

Welcome Welcome to the WISH board!:D

I enjoy WW but without really trying to I find to get the most eating "bang" for your Point "buck" - I have been eating a whole lot less carbs, less high sugar and high fat foods and TONS more veggies and protein and for me thats strange when I look back on my journal and see how few carbs I actually eat (not low enought to do Atkins though) - I really don't like beef a lot so most my protein is in the form of cheese, turkey, chicken and FISH(yummy) - But on the other hand I LOVE to be able to eat a stack of pancakes or PBJ sandwich when I want so WW is flexible enough for me and I beleive I can stay with it for life!

As far as exercise - I have a 90lb dog who drags me on a 2 mile walk almost everyday - but my TRUE new passion is The FIRM - the new 3 dvd's with the "fanny lifter" and "sculpting stick" seen on TV infomercials - I bought around June 7th and I use one of the DVD routines at least 5x/week I can really see some changes in the shape of my arms, legs, back and abdomen - Although I won't be sporting a Bikini anytime soon;)
I feel so energized after the workouts and thats saying alot because I do them around 9am each morning and I work 11-7am!
And the instructors on the dvd's although in great shape are not PERFECT - Can you tell I like these workouts

See what happens when I actually sleep the night before - I ramble on and on .....

I think what ever eating plan you choose to follow you will achieve greater results if you exercise - maybe not in lbs off - but in leaner body mass and overtime the lbs will come off!

Again WELCOME TO THE WISH BOARD
:)

Welcome to WISH,

You have definately come to the right place. Everyone here is so great and will help keep you motivated.

I do Weight Watcher's and find it really easy to stick too. I try to look for foods that are low in points but high in volume. I call it BULK eating!! Most of the time, I try to watch my carbs and processed foods, but WW"s does allow me to have them (and I do!) in moderation.

Good luck in finding the program for you, and again welcome to WISH!

Melanie
