Disposing of diapers at resort

Hi all...

I have a two year old that's not potty trained yet. Of course we will have some dirty diapers! Is there any place besides our hotel room to dispose of them (We are staying at the Contemporary). My plan is to get lots of ziploc bags to enclose the soiled diapers and hopefully find a garbage other than our room to toss them in. What do other families do?

Go to the Dollar Tree store and buy a box of their scented diaper disposal bags. Put peepee diapers in the bags and dispose in your room. Put the smellier diapers in the bags as well (maybe even double bag) and dispose of them in the trash cans near the monorail or other locations that get emptied often.

I would think that bathroom garbage cans are emptied the most
frequently, often each hour. I agree with double -bagging and
disposing in the bathroom of the hotel lobby.

We travel fairly often with our kids, and I have always found that zip loc bags with the air squeezed out of them work just fine in the hotel room garbage. They work better than the dollar store diaper disposal bags for odors.

We always travelled with lots of small ziploc bags (got extra quart size from flying?) and a bunch of plastic grocery store bags. The grocery bags aren't for the smell, we just always seem to find a use for them, and they cost less than larger ziplocs. :)

We used ziploc bags for the dirty diapers that were really bad. Worked like a charm! Also check, depending on where you are in a resort, there might be an outside trash nearby! We had one not far from the room, so we'd drop them in there from time to time also.

Scented diaper bags from Babies R Us and drop them in the trash outside where they will be removed.

Wal Mart also has the Baby Powder scenter plastic bags (they are light blue and made by Sassy) We'd put them in there and then in a Ziploc FREEZER bag and it wouldn't smell up the room. I don't know if everyone is using the freezer bags, but they are more heavy duty and thicker than the regular ziploc. AND we'd get the GALLON SIZE freezer bags so we'd be able to put 2-3 in there and then get rid of it. We'd use about 1 bag a day..depending on how bad the diapers were. Yuck..thank goodness my DD is potty trained now! I definitely do not miss those days.

When we used to travel with kids in diapers, I would bring a bunch of plastic grocery bags - the kind with handles. You can tie them up really tight and they don't smell. I would put all of the bagged diapers in one trash can in the room and put the can out in the open so it would be obvious that it needs to be emptied. I never had a problem with it.

I agree, find a garbage can outside or somewhere besides your room (in a ziploc).

We got yelled at by a CM for throwing a poopy diaper in the garbage can outside of the monorail at MK. She said, "we have to work here, we don't want to smell that all day!" Sorry...

I have to agree with the CMs on this one. Hot Florida sun + dirty diaper = Yuck! At least in your room there is AC, and the trash is typically emptied early in the day. Either way though, a ziploc is a good idea.

Really, we've never had a problem in our room at all. I used a diaper genie at home, or even zip loc bags, and didn't have a problem there either. I didn't run outside to dispose of every dirty diaper my kids ever had.

We used these for DS on our trip. They even have them in a roll in a small container. These bags worked great for us and we usually throw them out outside or in a restroom garbage.

If you are staying at the CR I would recommend just calling to request turn down service every night (call the first night and request it for your entire stay). With turn down service your trash will be emptied in the evening as well as in the morning at your regular housekeeping visit. That limits the time any stinkies sit in your room. If you are staying concierge, then you get the service automatically, otherwise you have to request it and it is only available at the deluxe resorts.

I would say toss them in the trash can in a bathroom. At least those are probley changed more frequently (aka, no unhappy cast members)

I agree. A public washroom is the most appropriate place to dispose of them. Custodians clean them repeatedly during the day. Don't put them in garbage bins out in the open as they aren't changed nearly as often. No cast member or guest wants to smell that.

This is OT but I once saw a lady leave her dirty kid's diaper on a bench at the Contemporary (right outside of Chef Mickey's) Then she headed into the restaurant without washing her hands. Yuck.

That is soooooo gross! Ok..now I have the picture in my mind of her touching all the utensils and serving pieces on the buffet. Makes me want to gag.

Yuck! I had the same vision! What are people thinking? :confused3
Makes me happy I carry Purell with me all the time!!

By the way, I put them in the washroom garbage if I am not in my room. If we are in our room, I put it in a plastic grocery bag, tie it up and put it in the "garbage room". We stay at DVC resorts, so not sure if other resorts have a room specifically for garbage that is accessable.
