Okay, this may sound OCD -- and maybe it is. But I can't stand the thought of flying and sleeping on a long plane trip or taking our upcoming train trip in a sleeper car without covering the reclining seats so we can put our heads back and nap, etc. without worry. Anyone ever buy whole seat covers for this? I found theater seat covers online, but don't know if they would work on trains or planes.

Edited to add: I was looking for disposable. It took a lot of word searching as all I kept getting was custom made seat covers; but after much rewording, I found them. If anyone wants a reference, here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/Disposable-A...89677008&sr=8-2&keywords=airplane+seat+covers

And for those worried about bed bugs: https://www.amazon.com/Disposable-A...89677008&sr=8-2&keywords=airplane+seat+covers

Thanks all.

Just cover the seat with a thin blanket. No big deal really. Make sure it doesn't overlap into the people sitting behind you.

What are you concerned about, specifically? One option might be to bring antibacterial wipes and wipe the seat down entirely with them, then wait a few minutes before sitting down.

I knew this would be a hot bed of discussion. Too many trips with disgusting seats, smelly seats and bed bug reviews. Just trying to take precautions. Thought it was an interesting option (if there was one). We have used Clorox wipes before many times. Thanks.

I think that stopping to wipe down the seat, wait for it to dry, etc. would cause a bottleneck behind you in the plane's aisle. Just bring a thin fleece blanket and put that on the seat if you are worried Or wear a hoodie and put up the hood before you sit down. Are you going to similarly cover the seat of every ride or attraction you sit on while you are at Disney?

What the heck are "bus pants"?

I don't know what "bus pants" are but my elderly father used to wear his "cat pants" when visiting my home in the event a cat took up residence on his lap. He loved my cats but didn't want fur on his 'good' pants. :confused3

All of my pants are "cat pants". I also have "cat shirts", "cat shorts", and "cat skirts".

I don't lay my head back and doze or sleep on rides. I think the point of my question is lost and I'll just let this thread go to rest. Thanks anyway.

I have dog pants, shorts, rugs, towels, beds...etc.

To the OP, I recommend wiping down and getting a disposable blanket of some sort. Or use a fitted sheet.

I think there were several good points made. Discussions can have many good points when many people with different viewpoints participate. Kind of the idea of a discussion board.

No worries -- I'm not sure what I expected, but was hoping someone had purchased said item and could direct me to the site. There are good points being made and I took nothing personal or offense to anything, I just think my posting the question was probably not necessary. Thanks all for taking the time to post.

You know I only looked because the title said "closed", right?

What are you going to do while you wait? Stand in the aisle?

I think you would have to - it takes time for the antibacterial properties in the wipes to kill germs on the surfaces. I think the wipes say to let the surface air dry for several minutes before using it. I know lysol does.

And I hope my comment wasn't taken as being sassy, because it wasn't - I'm a scientist, so I was just trying to figure out what the OP wanted to protect against in order to suggest some legitimate precautions. If the concern is lice, for example, antibacterial isn't going to work, and a thin blanket may not either. If the concern is flu or other illness, wiping the headrest won't really work but wiping the armrests will. Then you could sit but not touch the armrests until they are dry.

Personally, I wouldn't use a seat cover for that type of application because in my mind that would mean that you would risk contaminating all of your stuff with whatever is on the seat. Unless, I guess, you keep the seat cover in a sealed plastic bag.
