Do you know if there is such a thing as a underwater camera that also has the option to take panoramic photos?

Thank you all in advance for your help!

I don't know the answer to that, but if I could piggyback on your question, does anyone have any experience with black and white disposable cameras?

Yes, there are underwater cameras. They are genearlly good down to only about 10ft of depth (below that and they might start leaking).

You should be able to find these disposible cameras at any local walmart. If not I know they used to $ell them on the boat as well.

I purchased waterproof cameras today that are for 17 feet deep, ;) at a Target store local here. Fuji brand disposables @ 6.74 each

CRSNDSNY - yes, there are (or atleast used to be) panoramic disposables, but they, for whatever reason, aren't easy to find. I agree w/B&TBs check Target and also Walmart.

mkauffman - we used some b&w disposables for my sister's wedding this past May and the pictures came out great. Of course she did a b&w theme for her wedding.

Hope this helps. -Mike

Our local Walmart has the fuji brand on sale 2 for 8.88. They are the underwater disposable type. We took them last year and let DD's use them all week. We're going to do the same this year. Pics turned out good...............REMEMBER........pack them in your carry-on. The other x-rays will kill the film.

We used a disposable underwater camera on our Carnival cruise a couple years ago and the pictures turned out great! We went snorkeling at Blue Lagoon Island in Nassau. The underwater pictures were some of the best pictures we have ever taken. The underwater camera even took good pictures out of the water! On the day we stopped in Freeport, it poured rain all day. We went swimming with dolphins. Thank goodness for the underwater camera! It didn't matter if that camera got wet. Other people were trying to protect their cameras with towels. I was glad we had that camera!

As a photography teacher, I am not a big fan of disposables. I miss my zoom lens and the other bells and whistles. Still, I have to admit that disposables have their place -- and the beach is one of them! Here's my advice on making the most of your disposable camera:

1. Don't buy the cheapest disposables -- they're not all made alike. Get the ones with the slightly better lenses. Look at the boxes -- you'll be able to tell which are which. In general I prefer Fuji film (better colors, studies show it's more long-lasting), but I think Kodak has cornered the market on quality disposables. I dislike Fuji's underwater cameras because of the awkward shutter release button.

2. Plan to use disposables outdoors only. Indoors you're just wasting your time.

3. Have your disposables developed immediately. This is good advice with any film, but it's particularly important with disposables.

4. Black and white pictures taken with a disposable will be C-41 instead of true black and white. Actually, most black and white film (disposable or non-disposable) is C-41 -- it's B&W film that can be developed on color paper. Considered quite a break-through in the photography world, it's the reason we're all so ga-ga over B&W photography now -- it's made B&W photography available to the masses. Your pictures will come back with a "soft" look; you'll have shades of grays in addition to the black and white. This type of film can be developed at any drug store and is inexpensive to develop.

In contrast, true old-fashioned, professional B&W film is more "crisp" looking -- the blacks are black and the whites are white -- these are the really striking pictures that we admire in photography books. You aren't going to get that stunning look with C-41 film. Most developing places can't develop true B&W on-site, but instead send it out; thus, it takes about a week and costs about $20/roll for developing. To the best of my knowledge, true B&W film isn't available in disposables.

We used those 2 for $8.88 fuji's (Walmart)...they take excellent pictures, they are not underwater cameras though. We purchased a separate underwater disposable camera at Walmart.

Thanks for the info on the B&W cameras. I'm definitely going to buy one at Target before we go. We've used the Fuji underwater disposable before and the pics always turned out great!

You guys are so full of information.

I have never seen an underwater camera which can also take panoramic photos. I actually had a hard time finding a disposable camera which would take panoramic photos, but I finally found it. It is by Kodak Advantix.

I will have to do a search and see if one exists. We love our panoramic disposable -- and yes, they are quite difficult to find. Couldn't find one before our last trip, but our first cruise we have one and LOVED our panoramic pics! Wouldn't it be great to take them underwater??? :)

I have not looked lately, but yes, come to think of it, I have seen, purchased, and even used a panoramic disposible camera. Kodak used to make one (and it was not Advantix).

But like others are stating, I too have never seen a panoramic underwater camera.

If you can find a panoramic disposible, you could TRY to see if you could place it in a plastic bag (such as a zip lock sandwich bag) and take a picture that way. The main thing to trying this would be to make sure the plactic is thin, clear, and tightly up against the lens (not the view finder) so that you get as little distortion from the plastic as possible.
