Disposable camera film speed?

I have decided the easiest thing for us to do is to buy a bunch of disposable cameras to use while we are at WDW. BUT I can't seem to decide what sort of cameras to buy. The majority have 800 speed film. I was thnking 400 speed might be better. Anybody know anything about this? What if it is rainy or cloudy? What about those new "power flash" that the flash is good up to 16 feet? Please help! TIA!

If you plan on just getting 4 x 6 prints the 800 should be fine.
If you think you may want a larger print you might want to consider 400. The higher the ISO number the more light sensitive it is but also the grainier it is.

If you can, try to find some 400 for bright day time shots and get some 800 for night time shots.

Try to get cameras where you can turn the flash off and on. If your subjects are back lit by the sun you will need to use the flash. Also you will need the flash for night time portraits.

Now also if you are using 800 speed film I would make sure it is hand checked at the airport to avoid any chance of xray damage.

Thanks!

Do you know if 800 film is vulnerable to x-ray before it is used or just after the pictures are taken? Should I pack all the 800 speed cameras in my carry on and make them hand check it, or going to Orlando will it be ok in my checked bags? I will obviously be extra careful with the film coming home. I guess if the x-rays mess it up on the way there then I will be shooting with bad film the whole trip, huh? And since I don't plan to develop it until we get home I could end up with NO pictures. Hmm. The plot thickens. We might end up taking the regular camera after all. Better to take rolls of film through security than 10 or 12 disposable cameras. More suggestions are welcome!

The current equipment used to scan checked bags WILL ruin film, so don't check it in your bags. If you check airline or Kodak websites, they generally advise film up to ASA800 is ok to pass thru the carry-on x-ray machines. If you prefer, you can ask them to hand check it.

It won't matter if your film has already been exposed or not. It is no more or less susceptible until it is developed.

::yes::

I always rent a car when I'm down there so one of the things I do when I get there is go find a target or some local store(never a touristy store they charge too high a price) and stock up on film. Thats one less chance of it being accidently x-rayed.

Also to make the hand check easier, take all rolls of film out of those plastic cylinders and place them in large see through ziplock bag.

I know they say its safe up to 800 put I have had some 400 and 800 damged by the x-ray machine at the Orlando airport.
