My 3 dd's have collected some pins that they don't want to trade. Their lanyards are full of pins that they want to trade. Does anyone have any ideas for displaying/storing the pins they want to keep?

I got one of the pin trading books that I keep my non-tradable pins in. I got it at the pin kiosk at DTD. but they sell them pretty much anywhere they sell the pins. They also have little back pack/briefcases for them too. The books looks like a large 3 ring binder with Mickey on the front and inside are pages that are felt (I think) lined heavy plastic.

I read about a great idea on one of the board, go to a art store like Michaels and get a canvas like those you would use for painting that are on wood frames and either paint something Disney-like on them or not (like the Mickey symbol) and then put the pins all over it and hang it up. This way it is easy to get them off and on, in case you want to remove them for some reason and they are out on display like a piece of artwork. We are planning to do this in DD10's room.

I have alot of my "special pins", MVMCP etc, in a shadow box type display. I actually love looking at them...reminds me of little moments everytime. I don't trade but buy pins to remember special things. They are my biggest expense every trip!

I have most of my pins on corkboards. You can buy them at Walmart in the stationary section for under $10. They have quite a few sizes, mine are 36" X 42" and I think they were around $7. these corkboards have a nice light wood frame that can be painted if it doesn't go with the theme of the room or pins, I kept mine plain.
I painted right on the corkboard with acrylic paints. I did most of mine in a black background with different colored borders depending on the theme I wanted. I think the pins show up so much better on black . I have my Figment pins on a pink background with a purple border and for my patriotic pins I painted a waving flag on a gold background.
HINT.. Keep a small amount of the paint you use for the corkboard. If your children decide to move their pins around you can use the paint to fill in the small hole the pin left.
If you check out Dizpins you will se a topic where people have posted how they frame and display their pins.

I have a disney travel tote that I have hanging up in my closet (its a very large walk in type). I put all my favorite pins on it with locking backs.

When I first read your question, I thought you were talking about how to display them at the park and not at home, but with all the responses on how to display them at home, maybe I was confused...

Despite my confusion - I figured I'd share how I'm displaying my pins in the parks, with the hopes that because they're NOT on a lanyard, people won't want to trade. I have the small timbuk2 messenger bag and am putting my pins on the front and back of the shoulder strap (not over the shoulder - ouch) to display. I figured if someone requests to trade, I'll just politely turn them down, but thought this was a cute way to show my "collection" (I heart all the Disney cats and have various pins of them). Just thought my 2 cents might help if you meant for public display of pins.

Our spare bedroom is designed as a Disney room. Lots of black and red. All kinds of disney memories. As to our Disney pins we have a corkboard that is framed in black. It displays our pins very nicely.

For displaying them in the park but not for trade I would put them on a hat.

My DH and I went in 2000 when pin trading was on the new side. We had no idea how big it would be down the road! When we got home I bought a piece of foam board, covered it with a nice piece of fabric and put it in a shadow box. The pin backs are behind the back of the foam board.

Little did we know we would be going back in 8 years with our DDs now 3 and 5. Yippee! My girls have always loved looking at our displayed pins. They can be easily removed by undoing the frame and taking them out.

My nephew did something similar for his pins. He used foam board and cut it into a Mickey Head (did that part with help from his dad). He then covered it with black fabric. It looks really cool!
