Disneyworld at easter

It is crowded easter week they even wrist band at the pool at the BWV. We stayed at the BWV they have the candy grab easter morning on the lawn and cookie decorating. The decorated easter eggs in the lobby are incredible.

  • Massive crowds
  • Highest point costs - same as Xmas season, albeit with less fanfare (WDW not as decorated, fewer special events)
  • Jacked-up airfare

The best thing one can say is the weather is usually nice.

Tell me about it, Crowds, activities, everything.

Thanks

Rob

Having typically gone in May, we went one year at Easter - the crowds were a nightmare - fastpasses were typically gone by 11am - I should have listened to all my Dis friends and postponed our trip. We went in July once and the crowds weren't half as bad as Easter - The weather wasn't as hot in april as it was in July either.

My husband said - never again at Easter - and - I agree - it was our worst trip.

My family (DW, DD14, DS11, DD6 and http://www.****************/forums/images/smilies/new_0430/frog1.gif ) go every year at Easter (School schedule dontcha know?!?)

We have found the weather nice, swimming pleasant, and parks crowded but not totally insane. July 4, 2005 was totally insane. I could not walk down main street without hitting/knocking into people. It was crazy!!!

In the old days, I would go to the park early and run all the APs through the turnstile and go about collecting Fastpasses for everyone. Using these and the parent swap, when DD was 4) enables us to fastpass most of the day.

Afternoons we swam.

Now that everyones needs to be scanned, I can't run the APs through like I used to. So this years plan is to save several days of FPs to use at the parks later during the week. (Never had a problem with a 'Tuesday' FP being accepted on a 'Thursday' in the past.)

Will also use BWV Community hall for activities. May vist 'the other place' for a day as well!

I agree it is crowded, and fast passes vanish by noon or earlier, but believe me July 4th was much worse, and boy, was it hot. How hot was it? Very!

Loved our Easter trip. We've been at Easter and the week between Xmas and New Years. You can have a great trip if you just avoid the crowds. Get to the park first thing in the morning, stay until the crowds start to bug you, then go do something else. We usually found that we could return in the evening and get on some rides, although of course lines for the biggies were still long. The parks are open late, EVERYTHING is open, and the weather is wonderful. I definitely recommend an Easter trip.

(Not to do a commercial, but we found Tour Guide Mike to be a huge help. We followed his advice to the letter and crowds were never an issue.)

did it once...... WOULD NEVER DO IT AGAIN!! Paid a lot money for sitting around the pool because the parks were way nuts- fastpasses gone by 9:30 on most days.

Going in August instead... much cheaper too!

We're going to try it for Easter 2008. Probably won't spend too much time at the parks, but will be very glad of some FL weather by that time.

If we like it fine, it not we won't go back at that time.

When our kids were teenagers we always went at Easter and loved it. We'd do the parks in the morning and then head to the pool. Since we went every year there wasn't the same need to do everything. The kids often went back to the parks with friends.

Two years ago we went at Easter and I said never again.... It was crowded, fast passes not available after 10:00 a.m. We even had a 45 minute wait to get into Sea World!

Well, I'm going again during Easter week as that's when my DD's Spring Break is and likely the last one we'll have together for a while. We'll hang out at the pool, spend late evenings at the park (the two teens are tough in the a.m.'s) and just enjoy nice weather. It's been 10 to 20 below windchill the last few days here so I can't wait!

Agree with all of the above.....The parks are open quite late which does help. GO early, leave around lunch, and return after dinner. MK will have EMH until 2-3 am. The MK will likely close for a couple hours each afternoon.
The waterparks fill to capacity by 11:00 am so go early! Have all your dining reservations; go to the last showing of Spectro Magic Parade, Fantasmic, etc. Do not wait to get FPasses to some of the most popular rides (Space Mtn, Exp. Everest).
A lot of the resorts have egg/candy hunts, they sell Easter baskets that you can customize, and a lot of the restaurants have special menus for Easter Sunday.

We've been to DW during different months of the year in all the seasons. One of our favorite time to go is Easter. Weather is just perfect at the World during that time. We usually start early at the park and head back to the pool when the parks start getting crowded. Would return to parks at the evening and take adventage of the late hours for resorts guests. It's a great time to see Spring in Disney with all the flowers blooming. We went last Easter and will be back this Easter. Can't wait! :earsboy:

That's my gameplan!

This is what I'm really nervous about. In 2008, Easter is on March 23 the last day of our spring break. We only go every other year and I don't want to spend the entire trip fighting crowds. We've been during that week in March 3 times before and it's moderately crowded, but I know many more schools schedule their spring break to coincide with Easter. I'm just so afraid we will be miserable.

I think you will find Easter 2008 to be much lighter. I know in Jersey, when Easter falls in March, most of the schools do their spring break in April. Every school seems to pick different weeks, so there isn't as much of a pilgrimage south those years.

We would always go at easter and in the summer. The crowds are worse at Easter but the big difference we've always found is that the high end restaurants are VERY, VERY crowded. Even with the crowds, it's a great time to go, though.

We went at easter last year and are going again this year. I am a teacher so we are bound by the school schedule. It is crowded for sure, but the weather is perfect and the park hours are great! I think as long as you know this going in, and have a plan for what to do and when, you will be fine. We also go a few times a year so aren't too disappointed if we don't get to see something. Last year we stayed a few nights at POP. They had baskets you could put together which could be filled with just about anything sold at Disney. They were fun and looked great!
