Called to see about adding a day to the beginning of my reservation next April, and the woman I'm speaking with says that she can't find the reservation, only one for September?! I explain that I'd looked at some price quotes for a trip in Sept, but I already confirmed a reservation for April, and that's the one I was interested in changing.
She kind of shoots the b.s. for a few minutes asking details about the trip (to me, it seemed like she was stalling, since she "couldn't find it"), and I finally say, "Okay, great, so you've found it?" She says "No, I have to make a new reservation, which is what I'm doing now..."
Knowing that the type of room I had reserved was now unavailable, this didn't sit well at all, to say nothing about what I'd already paid on the existing reservation, so (taking the advice that it's sometimes better to simply call back and talk to someone else) I quickly got off the phone and called back.
This person explains that he can see the reservation, but due to some system upgrades (or whatever) he wasn't able to pull it up right now, and that I should try calling back later today. Okay, no problem, that much I can understand, no biggie. I go on to explain briefly my heart attack from the previous call, and he confirms, "No, no ,no, you're fine... I see you've got several quotes and such, but your actual reservation is definitely there among the list."
*whew*
Just another confirmation: Sometimes it's easier just to call back and hope you get someone else.
