Hi gang,
I'm Jim - 50 year old single guy. I'll (hopefully) be staying at OKW January 17-23 on rented DVC points from a good friend. I'll be travelling alone, as usual. I prefer WDW on my own - hence my screen name. I've been with friends and family, but like to do the world at my own pace - commando style when I feel like it, or a last minute decision to hang out at the resort and nap by the pool. I'll be doing the dining plan, and using ME and WDW transport. A rental car is too much of a hassle to me. I plan on Le Cellier, Chefs de France and Yachtsman's Steakhouse for a few of my choices of restaurants.
I haven't been to WDW for about 10 years, so there will be lots of new things for me to try out. I'm especially looking forward to EE and RRC. Soarin' is pretty much a no-go due to my fear of heights (funny I can do heights if I'm under a lap bar or harness, but I'm afraid a simple seat belt will do me in).
I'm looking for suggestions - especially meal-wise. I don't think OKW offers enough variety for me. I'll be hitting DTD for at least one night, and will spend a night or two at Jellyrolls, since that's my type of idea for fun, so I'll probably try Beaches and Cream for a meal, and maybe ESPN club.
TIA for suggestions and ideas! Only 9 1/2 months to go!! :cool1:

I love Disney Solo trips, too! I'm a 50 year old single mom, and I totally get what you're saying about hitting the parks at your own speed, on your own schedule. I'm completely comfortable traveling on my own, eating in nice restaurants alone, etc. It's not for everyone, but it's perfect for people like us! You picked my favorite restaurants, and I never rent a car either. Seriously, you sound like the male version of me :thumbsup2

Another suggestion for meals - I love eating at the Prime Time at DHS. They can tuck you into a corner and it's way fun to watch the "show" going on at the other tables. I've found that your wait-person will give you as much or as little interaction as you are comfortable with. Plus, I love the fried chicken there. Oooooh, and get a rice cream from Norway at Epcot. And a fiesta margarita in Mexico.

During your DTD night, try the Adventurer's Club - it's a great place for a single to hang out and not feel out of place.

One last suggestion - try Soarin'!! I'm not wild about heights, either, and my 18 yo son absolutely hates them. But we both are fine with Soarin'. If you get uncomfortable, you can just look off to the side and see the walls or even look down and see that the floor and/or screen is just a few feet away. It'll be ok. Now, Mission Space - I still haven't gotten the courage up for that yet (I tend to get motion sickness, and I don't do Star Tours anymore)

But RRC? My very FAVORITE ride at WDW!!

We're going to the World in August (my three teens and myself). I'm really looking forward to it, but I'm just a little bit jealous that you get to go by yourself ;)

I am going to move you to our pre-trip board. Thanks for sharing your pre-trip plans with us. Hope to hear more.
